🐍 Rattlesnakes have been spotted in our area more frequently! This big adult was seen recently on a trail in Wildwood. Avoidance is always the best policy when it comes to snake interaction.
Unfortunately, most dogs do not abide by that rule! If your dog lives in or visits areas where rattlesnakes live, we recommend discussing the importance of the rattlesnake vaccine with your vet.

🐍 After vaccination, dogs are reported to experience less pain and have a reduced risk of permanent injury from rattlesnake bites.

🚨It is essential to note that the vaccine does not
eliminate the need to seek emergency veterinary care after the pet is bitten. Even a vaccinated dog may still go into shock and need lifesaving medical care, including an injection of antivenin to neutralize the toxicity of the venom.

🏖️Did you know that dogs can accidentally ingest sand while playing or retrieving toys at the beach? This can lead to a serious and painful condition called sand impaction - which is an emergency!
⚠️ Symptoms to watch for:
🔹 Vomiting
🔹 Lethargy
🔹 Abdominal pain
🔹 Loss of appetite
Always monitor your pet during beach play and rinse off toys frequently. If you notice signs of distress after a beach day, contact us or seek ER vet care right away! 🌊

🐶 Did you know that a national study found that 85% of dog parks tested positive for an intestinal parasite?
🙀Puppies and kittens are often born with roundworms which is a parasite passed from their mother.
🐱 Did you know indoor cats can still get intestinal parasites? Tapeworms are spread by infected fleas which can still pass to indoor only cats & dogs.
🙀Cats that roam and hunt outdoors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with internal parasites.
💩 The good news? We send f***l samples to our lab which routinely check for 8 of the most common parasites! Some are zoonotic which means they can pass from animals to humans 🤢 Early detection is key to prevent illnesss and the spread of parasites!
