The importance of crate training can not be stressed enough! As you can see, the crate is a wonderful place for early evening naps! In Quorra’s opinion, it’s even better than being outside on this gorgeous fake fall day!

On my way to the National this year I met up with 4 of my puppies in pet homes to collect blood for the Histiosarcoma pretest which is done in France. The BMDCA is kind enough to subsidize a portion of the test price and cover shipping. I’m not sure what this years final number of samples submitted were- but 5 were from me!

Non-Berner friends- what does this mean? Category A- 4x less risk of developing histiocytic sarcoma, Category B- Neutral- not more or less at risk. Category C- 4x higher risk of developing it. “Histio” is the number one cancer that kills Berners. While this testing is still somewhat new, it’s a great start to learning the genetic markers responsible for the deadly disease. I pray that one day it will be a very useful tool in the breeding box when selecting mating pairs. The science of breeding is FAR FAR from perfect, and all we can ever do is the best we can with as much information as possible!

Elysian’s Pack Your StanLee, CGC, FDC was Winner’s Dog, Best of Winners, Owner Handled Best of Breed for his second major(4 pts!) at the big Lousiville show! At only 14.5 months, this boy has much more growing to finish! Not too bad for only his second show! (Quorra X Jimmy)

Elysian’s Guess Who? - Nona! Took a Beginner Puppy Group 3 on Friday at the big Louisville Show, but on Saturday- this future rock star took a GROUP 1!!! So, so, so proud of her! (Quorra x Fennel). She is growing up so nicely and an absolute joy to have at the end of my lead!
