Kids and Canines

Kids and Canines Kids and Canines’ mission is to serve disadvantaged youth through the use of a dog.

For more than 20 years, we have provided well-respected and tested programs to thousands of children. These children have been identified as having special needs or are part of the juvenile corrections system. We use trained dogs to help children achieve academically, socially, and in their pursuit of employment. The magic of the dog and child connection breaks down barriers, provides support, and

creates an environment that allows teens to learn important life skills through firsthand experiences.

Congratulations to Michael who read six books today in our Furry Tales program at Lake Magdalene. That is 5 more books than he did the first day. Big shout out of thanks to Ms. Perez and all the staff who made our visits such a pleasure. Hope to see you next school year.

Everybody say a big Kids and Canines hello to Logan! Logan is the newest member of the K&C family and he is the goodest boy ever! Thank you so much to our great friends at Moss Creek Goldendoodles for gifting us this special guy. He is a 1-year-old "Phantom" Doodle who loves to play ball and already gets along great with the other program dogs.

Everyone say hi to Finn. Finn is a star reading buddy at Thonotosassa Elementary School. He participates in both Furry Tales and classroom reading programs. Finn and his mom are definitely part of the family at Thonotosassa, and you can see how much he loves reading with his kids.

What would you think if you saw this motley crew headed your way? If you were at Dowdell Middle School, you would say, "hey look, it's the gang from Kids and Canines!"

Sometimes the kids just need to get of the classroom and take a walk. And the dogs are happy to come along! Chewy is working hard on mastering his loose leash walking. And the queen, Lucy, came out of retirement to help Chewy out. Have fun kids!
