🐾🩺 It’s National Veterinary Technician Week! 🐶🐱

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes at Reese Veterinary Hospital, and our veterinary technicians and support staff are a huge part of making it all happen!

From assisting with exams and procedures to comforting a nervous pet, answering questions, and making sure our four-legged patients get the attention they deserve, these hardworking individuals do a little bit of everything!

Veterinary medicine takes a team, and we’re certainly thankful for ours! ❤️

Help us show our team a little extra appreciation this week! Drop a 🐾 or a thank-you in the comments!

🐾 October is National Pet Wellness Month! ❤️

Your pet may look perfectly healthy—but does that mean they can skip their regular veterinary visit?

Not quite!

Pets are often very good at hiding early signs of illness. Routine wellness exams give your veterinarian an opportunity to catch small changes before they become bigger problems.

During a wellness visit, your veterinarian may:

🐶 Check weight and overall body condition
❤️ Listen to the heart and lungs
👀 Examine the eyes, ears and skin
🦷 Check teeth and oral health
🥕 Discuss nutrition, activity and behavior
💉 Review vaccines and parasite prevention
🔎 Look for subtle changes that may need further attention

Preventive care isn’t only about treating illness—it’s about helping pets stay healthy and identifying potential concerns early.

Routine wellness exams, vaccinations and appropriate screenings can play an important role in keeping your pet happy and healthy for years to come.

This National Pet Wellness Month, make your pet’s health a priority. 🐾

Fall is finally here!

Cooler temperatures mean more opportunities for walks, hikes, backyard adventures, and outdoor fun with your pets.

But don't forget that Georgia's parasites don't necessarily take the fall off! Fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes can remain active as temperatures allow.

Keep those monthly preventatives going all year long and ask us if you're unsure whether your pet's prevention is still providing the protection they need.

🍂🐾 Fall treats may be delicious for us, but some can be dangerous for our pets.

As football parties, family dinners, and fall gatherings pick up, remember to keep dogs and cats away from:

🚫 Chocolate
🚫 Grapes and raisins
🚫 Onions and garlic
🚫 Xylitol-containing products
🚫 Alcohol
🚫 Very fatty foods

Even a small amount of certain foods can cause serious problems depending on what was eaten, how much, and the size of your pet.

If your pet gets into something they shouldn’t, don’t wait for symptoms to appear before contacting your veterinarian or a pet poison resource.

Save this post as a reminder for fall gatherings! 🍁🐶🐱

🌈🐾 Today is **National Pet Memorial Day**, a time to remember the pets who touched our lives and left paw prints on our hearts.

Our pets are so much more than animals — they are family, companions, and part of our everyday lives. Today, we’re remembering the ones who welcomed us home, stayed beside us through hard days, made us laugh, and gave us unconditional love.

If you’ve lost a beloved pet, we invite you to share their name or a favorite memory in the comments. ❤️

Today, we remember them.

🍂🐾 Cooler weather is on the way, and that means more outdoor fun with your pets!

After a long, hot Georgia summer, your dog may be ready to get moving again — but it’s a good idea to ease back into longer walks, hikes, and playtime gradually.

As activity increases, watch for signs like:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Limping or stiffness
🐾 Reluctance to keep going
🐾 Difficulty getting up or climbing stairs
🐾 Changes in behavior

And remember — cooler weather does **not** mean parasite season is over. Keep flea, tick, and heartworm prevention going as directed by your veterinarian.

Here’s to more walks, more fresh air, and plenty of fall adventures! 🍁🐶❤️

❤️🐾 September is Animal Pain Awareness Month.

Our pets can't simply tell us when something hurts.

Watch for changes like:
🐾 Limping or moving slowly
🐾 Difficulty getting up
🐾 Sleeping more
🐾 Hiding or withdrawing
🐾 Changes in appetite
🐾 Reluctance to jump or climb stairs

Don't automatically assume slowing down is "just getting older."

If something about your pet seems different, it's worth paying attention.

🐶🐱 Happy Labor Day!

Whether you're enjoying a backyard BBQ, taking a walk, or relaxing at home, we hope you and your pets have a safe and happy holiday!

Remember to keep pets away from alcohol, fatty foods, grills, fire pits, and anything else those curious noses might get into. ❤️

Enjoy the day!
