🐾💨 Speedy Gonzales Lives Up to His Name! 💨🐾

Mr. Speedy Gonzales recently came into Thompsonville Veterinary Clinic after apparently deciding to go on a little adventure.

Unfortunately, Speedy came home from his travels with a little boo-boo on his paw that needed some attention. However, it did ot affect his playful personality and happy attitude.

Maybe next time, Speedy, keep the adventures a little closer to home!

Today is all about celebrating the loyal, loving, goofy, and sometimes downright mischievous dogs who make our lives better every day! ❤️

😺 It is national take your cat to the vet day! 😺
Vet visits can be scary, but they don't have to be. There are several ways to minimize the stress and anxiety your cat experiences at the vet:

- Find a veterinarian who practices Fear Free handling ❤
Fear Free is a handling technique designed to lower stress for patients at veterinary visits with a number of different strategies.

- Get them used to the carrier 🐈
The anxiety often starts at home when the dreaded cat carrier comes out. Most cats are only placed in the carrier to go to the vet or travel- both of which can be scary. Try placing your cat's carrier out with the door open a few days in advance and placing their food in it. That way, the carrier doesn't trigger as much stress or anxiety.

***Bonus tip- cat carriers that open from the top or have removable tops allow for lower stress handling at the office ***

- Have a comfort item with them 💟
Does your cat have a blanket or toy that they always have around? Bring it with them! Items that smell like home can be comforting in the clinic.

- Use pheromones 😻
Feliway is a pheromone that helps reduce stress in cats and is available as a spray that can be used on a blanket or fabric carrier to help.

- Anti-anxiety medications 💊
Does your poor cat ~really~ hate vet visits? As your veterinarian about medication to help calm your cat prior to visits. Most veterinarians are more than happy to assist you as this also helps them and their team!
