We are a private, non-profit humane society serving the Thomasville community and Southwest Georgia as a "limited admission" shelter, focusing on animals in need of owner surrender. We adopt animals, provide medical care for newly adopted pets, and provide low cost sterilization services with the "Wellness Waggin," our mobile veterinary bus. Like all humane societies and SPCAs, we are independent

and are not affiliated with, nor do we receive regular funding from, any national animal welfare organizations or advocacy groups. Your interest in the welfare of the lost, homeless, abused, and abandoned pets in our community is greatly appreciated and vital to our continued success. Only financial support received locally will ensure our future and allow us to continue to care for the 4,000 animals per year that come through our doors. Your continued support means the world to us! We work hard to be the area’s leading advocate for animal welfare. Please help us continue to help them with your financial support!

Earlier today, we introduced some of our adoptable dogs and cats, but they’re only a small portion of the amazing animals currently waiting for homes at Thomasville Humane.

MEET MAGGIE!! A certified Pitopotamus 🦛💙

Maggie is the perfect mix of chunky, sweet, goofy, and lovable. She has one of those faces that instantly makes you smile, and once you meet her, it is impossible not to fall in love with her happy little hippo grin. 🥹

Maggie is happiest when she is soaking up attention from her people and enjoying peaceful time outside. She does not ask for much, just love, consistency, and a comfy place to call home. 💙

If you are looking for a loyal companion with a big smile and an even bigger heart, Maggie may be your girl!

Suri is a 3-year-old sweetheart who absolutely loves people and makes friends everywhere she goes. She’s gentle, affectionate, and happiest when she’s soaking up love and attention from the people around her.

A few things about Suri:
• Dog friendly
• Loves playgroups
• Sweet and affectionate
• Great kennel manners
• Doing well with leash walking
• Low to medium energy
• Doggy Day Out eligible

Suri enjoys running and playing with her dog friends, but once she gets her zoomies out, she’s perfectly happy to relax beside you and just enjoy the moment. 😂💕

She would make such a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, easygoing dog to cuddle with and share life alongside. Dogs like Suri make a house feel like home.

ADOPT HERSHEY 🤎

At over 6 years old, Hershey is just a sweet old man looking for a soft place to land.

This gentle giant loves the simple things in life:
☀️ Sunbathing
🧸 Carrying around his favorite pig toy
🚶 “Walking himself” by holding his own leash
💙 Spending quiet time with his people

Hershey is laid-back, goofy, and full of personality in the most lovable way. Sometimes he barks at people walking by, which unfortunately causes him to be overlooked, but truthfully, he just wants someone to notice him. Once you spend time with him, you quickly realize how sweet he truly is.

One of our favorite things about Hershey? Every single time he leaves his kennel, he proudly grabs his leash in his mouth and walks himself outside. It never fails to make us laugh. 🥹

Hershey may be an older guy, but he still enjoys exploring the yard, showing off his funny little quirks, and spending time with people he trusts. He especially loves lounging in the sun and relaxing beside his humans.

Hershey deserves a home where he can finally rest his old bones, soak up sunshine, and be loved the way he deserves. He shouldn’t have to spend his days in a kennel anymore.

Please consider giving this sweet boy a chance. Older dogs are so often overlooked, but they still have so much love left to give. 🤎

KENNEL LIFE IS HARD FOR SOME DOGS, but they are no less worthy of adoption💔

We know Gobi can be easy to overlook. When people walk past his kennel, they often see a dog with lots of energy who can be loud and overwhelming. But what they don’t see right away is the goofy, affectionate dog underneath it all. 🥺

Once Gobi gets out into the yard, everything changes. He settles down, listens well, and LOVES spending one-on-one time with his people. He will happily run, play, toss his Kong toy around, and then come right over for kisses and attention.

We will not hide the work that has gone into helping Gobi grow. Since arriving in December 2025, he has made SO much progress with our staff through patience, structure, and consistency. Watching him slowly learn to trust and connect with people has been incredibly rewarding, and we know the day he finds the right home will be one of those stories we never forget.

A few things about Gobi:
• Long-term resident
• Adult-only home preferred
• Would do best as the only pet
• Loves one-on-one attention
• Super smart and eager to connect
• Big fan of Kong toys and yard time
• Needs a patient, confident owner

Gobi does not trust easily, but once he lets his guard down, he forms incredibly strong bonds with his people. To know Gobi truly is to love him. He just needs someone willing to look beyond the kennel behavior and give him the chance he deserves.

Dogs like Gobi are often passed over simply because shelter life is stressful for them. But we believe there is an amazing dog underneath all that uncertainty and energy. 💙

Meet the Team Monday 💙🐾

This week we’re introducing you to Meghan Naughton, our Feline Care Specialist at Thomasville Humane.

Meghan has been with Thomasville Humane for 10 years and is incredible with our cats! Anyone who knows her knows just how much she loves them… and how much they love her right back. 🐱

One moment that has always stayed with Meghan is helping a shy cat finally come around socially and eventually find a home. Watching animals learn to trust and seeing the results of the work put into helping them is what she loves most about being here.

She also wants people to know that shelter work is about much more than simply petting animals. There’s a lot of care, patience, and hard work that goes into helping animals heal and find homes.

Over the years, Meghan says this work has helped her become more social and confident while helping animals find the families they deserve.

We’re so grateful for Meghan and the kindness and dedication she brings to our shelter every day! 💙
