Halter breaking day! We still rope our babies, gentle and slow with pressure and relief. Starting them this way, we feel, provides a foundation to start the giving to pressure process we teach in our ground work clinics.

We start with weaning, keeping the mares on a pasture next to the babies. Start loving on them and getting them used to people more.

Then starts halter breaking, ground work and handling. It may be a slow process but it establishes a good foundation for when they become a big horse

I still see farriers posting about these ‘evil’ shoes, normally with poorly applied shoes or shoes that are too small!!
This is a pic showing the mechanics of a centre fit shoe. It’s not about ripping the toe back, or ‘natural balance’ as people still call it!! It’s about ratios around the coffin joint and shoeing to reduce torque on the soft tissues and to reduce tension on the Deep flexor tendon during locomotion.
It’s about correct placement of the shoe on the right horse, not shoeing every horse the same
