Hey guys!!! I have a question. My Corso Brutus is 13 months old, I am starting to think he was the runt of his litter! Brutus is 78 pounds, I took him to the Vet, the Vet said he was not concerned and that according to the chart, he’s ok! The vet also mentioned that he’s within the weight limits at his age, I beg to differ, a lot of my friends who have Corsos are tipping the scales at 160 pounds, AT 13 and 14 months!!!
I’m not in a rush for him to reach his full weight, however, I am concerned that maybe I’m not feeding him properly!!! The Vet gave me a lecture on how to feed him properly and I’ve been doing so, but I just feel like maybe something is wrong!!!
I feed Brutus a combo of raw and “so called quality kibble” not everyday he get raw food but at least twice a week. For Brutus’s weight and age, the instructions on the kibble alllows him 4 cups a food per day! I usually give him 2 cups in the morning, 1 cup of food at doggie daycare and 2 cups in the evening, I cut out giving him treats for now, his stomach is super sensitive and diarrhea will follow. Also when I feed raw, I feed him sweet potatoes steamed , chicken NOT COOKED, chicken hearts, gizzards, all 1 main protein.
I use to feed him duck wings and rabbit. He doesn’t have any bad reactions, and I switched to just 1 protein so that I do not hurt his stomach and what not! He gets his joint and supplements/vitamins in the morning, occasional raw egg or coconut oil for his coat.
AM I STILL NOT DOING SOMETHING PROPERLY? Will Brutus reach a normal weight when of age and fully matured or is my boy going to remain looking super lean?
Advice please!!!
