She has a name!
An update on sweet Nora ❤️

On Sunday, Nora finally had her formal shearing, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped get her to this point.

During this final clean up, we removed an additional 2.5 pounds of fiber, bringing the total amount removed from her body to an unbelievable 27.5 pounds!

As a reminder, we think she hasn't been shorn in at least 8 years but could be as many as 14. It’s hard to imagine what it must have felt like carrying that weight for so long. She was also alone.

But the best part of this update is how far she has already come in her short time with us.

Nora has already gained a significant amount of much-needed weight, her skin issues are healing beautifully, and she is settling into rescue life more and more every day. The scared, uncomfortable girl who arrived here carrying years of neglect is slowly being replaced by a calmer, healthier alpaca who is finally getting the care she deserves.

And through it all, she has remained incredibly sweet.

We chose the name Nora for her new beginning, and we can’t wait to continue sharing her journey with all of you.

Update on our newest rescue girl ❤️

We wanted to share some progress, because what she has already been through, and overcome, is incredible.

To keep her stress as low as possible, her shearing had to be done over three separate sessions. During the first two, we carefully removed 18 pounds of fiber by hand with scissors. Then, our amazing shearer, Pierce, was able to safely take off an additional 7 pounds.

That’s 25 pounds total this sweet girl had been carrying.

It’s hard to put into words what that kind of weight and neglect does to an animal, but you can see the relief starting to set in. She’s moving more comfortably, beginning to relax, and most importantly,

She is gaining much-needed weight and settling in beautifully.

And true to what we first noticed about her, she is incredibly sweet.

She still doesn’t have a name yet, but we’re taking our time to choose one that truly fits her new beginning.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our beloved residents, Llarry—also known as Llarry Llove.
Llarry came to us as a law enforcement seizure, and while we don’t know everything he endured before arriving, we do know he carried it with quiet strength. He had a large hole in his cheek that made even something as simple as eating difficult, often spilling food as he tried his best.
We took Llarry to Oregon State University in hopes of giving him a better quality of life through surgery. While there was some improvement, the repair ultimately did not hold, and the hole reopened. Through it all, Llarry remained incredibly patient, gentle, and cooperative—despite not being tame when he first arrived.
Over time, he showed us just how special he was. He became easy to treat, trusting, and so very well behaved. And if you ever had an apple, you had a friend for life—apples were his absolute favorite.
Llarry’s journey wasn’t easy, but he knew safety, compassion, and love here. He touched every one of us, and leaves behind a space that cannot be filled.
He left a Llarry-sized hole in our hearts.
Thank you to everyone who supported his care and followed his journey. We will miss him more than words can say, but we take comfort knowing he was safe, loved, and never alone.
Rest peacefully, sweet Llarry Llove. 🦙💛
