I have a new filly! Meet Sunshine. She is a yearling & the spitting image of my Kairgae who passed away several years ago just shy of 30 years old.
Sunshine had a very rough start to life. She was born on a cattle ranch in TX and was sent to auction due to having a club foot.
She was purchased, but then had some sort of accident affecting her right shoulder.
She was then sent back to the auction. With the club foot, a very noticeable limp and a large disfigurement on the shoulder, she was destined for the slaughter house.
A very kind woman, Melissa rescued her and had her shipped from TX to Paso Robles.
Melissa cared for her for 6 months. Getting weight back on her (she was very skinny), and having her issues looked in to.
Melissa decided to find her a new home so she could rescue more horses, and I was lucky enough to qualify!
Today my Farrier discovered that the Canon bone in the club foot leg is shorter than the Canon bone on her other leg. ( this could be the cause of her club foot).
In addition, it appears that the injury to her club foot leg. Has rotated her forearm to the outside, meaning most likely she will never be able to walk without a limp.
As you can see from the pictures, limping does not slow her down at all. The vet feels she is not in any pain, and after watching her run and buck, I concur!
