On Monday, we took in a family of eight budgies! By the very next day, they were all in for their initial exams.

In even better news, they were adopted… by the wonderful avian veterinarian who performed their exams and diagnostics!

Huge thanks to Dr. McFarland, and of course the wonderful family that is the Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic of Az.

Good morning, Deedee is still available for adoption. We have been going through a slower season and still maintaining our high standards of adoption. Meet Helga, a female Congo African Grey Parrot available for adoption at The Urban Parrot.

We picked up Helga alongside another African Grey (Rudy) earlier in May due to an urgent request. They were both kept in horrible conditions outside in a wire cage with no food, water or room to stand that wasn’t covered in f***s. Unfortunately due to this, both Helga and Rudy had lost multiple toes and were very underweight upon intake. Fortunately she has gained about ~50 grams in weight and has a clean medical record apart from elevated liver values.

Despite her sad previous years, she is very social and steps up very well. Helga loves to whistle, dance, and can say a few phrases such as “hello” and “hey there Helga”. She also has regained the ability to fly and target her cage for landing. She’s been a very fun bird to have at the rescue and we are still looking for a forever home for her.

Good Afternoon from The Urban Parrot!
We would like to share a few quick updates:

• Our two African Grey parrots, Rudy and Helga, are available for pre-adoption. Both are hand tame, friendly, middle aged parrots that we received from a severe neglect case two months ago.

• Deedee, the Galah Cockatoo, is still available for adoption. She is ten years old, friendly, hand tame, and looking for her forever home.

• We are seeking donations of bird safe toys, and contributions to our veterinary fund to help us continue our mission of ensuring no parrot is left behind.

Meet Deedee, a Galah Cockatoo available for adoption at The Urban Parrot.

Deedee is a 10 year old female Galah (also known as rose-breasted) Cockatoo. She is loads of fun, and has been great company these last few weeks at the rescue. She has no preference for man or woman, steps up just fine, and allows head scratches occasionally.
