Meet Deedee, a Galah Cockatoo available for adoption at The Urban Parrot.

Deedee is a 10 year old female Galah (also known as rose-breasted) Cockatoo. She is loads of fun, and has been great company these last few weeks at the rescue. She has no preference for man or woman, steps up just fine, and allows head scratches occasionally. To request more information about adopting Deedee, please send us a message or email us at [email protected]

Last week we took in two African Grey Parrots from one of the worst neglect cases we have seen in person. Rudy and Helga were kept under a carport with a rusty, never cleaned cage with their only shelter being a small breeding box for 5+ years. During their time in these conditions Rudy and Helga have lost multiple toes and have unknown historical constructions and possible bone injuries in their feet. Their keel condition results were both determined as “emaciated”. Helga and Rudy are very trusting, despite their rough last few years. We have spent the last week doing the following to prepare for their availability for adoption:

-General examinations and Complete blood chemistry.
-much needed nail and beak trims & nasal debridement
-Seperation and monitored supervision due to Helga plucking Rudy previously
-Specialized Diets to regain weight and nutrition.
-enrichment in the form of shredable toys and puzzles.
-Anti-plucking collar for Rudy

As always, we greatly appreciate everyone’s support for The Urban Parrot. We look forward to providing updates on Helga and Rudy in the coming weeks

UPDATE: We have found a fantastic family to adopt T***s! Thank you all for the wonderful applications.

We are accepting pre-applications for T***s, the handsome medium sulfur crested cockatoo! T***s is a male, and is estimated to be 30 years old.
T***s is playful, friendly, and will be looking for his forever family in roughly two weeks once his mandatory intake requirements are met. T***s comes with a large custom cage and a massive tree stand.
He must go to a home with other large bird(s) and have the ability to jump, climb, and fly (T***s was historically wing-clipped, so these feathers will need time to grow out, first).

If you meet these requirements and would like to apply to adopt T***s, please contact us through the form below!

All currently available birds have been adopted out at this time. We will have a cockatoo available in the next three weeks.

We have decided, at The Urban Parrot, to minimize our intake capacity to just two birds at a time. This allows us to give dedicated, catered care to each resident. You may not see much of us in your feed, but we are still here- just a bit smaller.

And, as a friendly reminder, we specialize in large parrots and CANNOT legally rehabilitate or take in wildlife- this includes found pigeons, lovebirds, Quakers, and wild birds found outdoors.

Thank you all for the tremendous support you have given us during this wonderful journey!

Meet Peppy, the 45 year-old amazon parrot who was rescued from a severe neglect case on Wednesday, May 21st of 2025. Peppy was kept in deplorable conditions, with her cage covered for extended length of time any time she would make a peep. Peppy was referred to as a "background pet", her needs going unmet for years. Now, Peppy faces several medical concerns, including a severely overgrown beak. Please consider supporting Peppy's hospitalization and ongoing medical care with our avian veterinary specialist team. We can't do this without you!
