πŸ₯΅ It's been a warm winter and, idk about you but I am dreading the summer heat this year!

I'm planning a weekend getaway for anyone interested in beating the heat, having some fun, and getting in some training! πŸ•

Sage's first patio experience! She greeted some kids, ate some treats and then crashed by the time food came. It was busier than I anticipated, but she settled in fast. I had to poke her awake so we could head home! She also got in a little bird watching πŸ©πŸ˜‡

Double trouble! Meet standard poodles Sage and Basil 😍 They are just shy of 8 weeks and ready to grow and learn! Dill and Ripley are very curious about these new sisters 😁

This week:
Getting adjusted
Baths and grooming
Introducing to the household
Beginning short separations to avoid littermate issues
Building optimism
Learning to learn

I'll try to post updates along the way! As you can imagine, I'm about to be very busy πŸ˜…

(photo description: A black dog with a white neck and chest and tiny flappy ears sits in the forest surrounded by redwood trees and green ferns. He has a big, square head and thick jowls. He is looking at the camera with a soft expression and is wearing a blue collar and a navy, gold, and red bandana.)

🏒πŸ₯΅πŸ• Is it just me, or does this heat get worse every year? Desert-dwelling with dogs is not for the faint of heart, especially if you are living in an apartment! Keep those feet off the pavement and those tails wagging with a few of my favorite summer activities:

🧩 Interactive Toys 🎾 - Challenge their minds and keep them engaged! Try Kongs and silicone mats with frozen foods for a chilly treat

🏠 Indoor Agility Course πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ - Set up tunnels, hops, and climbs for an action-packed workout. Break out your inner 5-year old and get creative! Use a box for a tunnel or make a scramble out of cushions.

πŸŽ“ Training Sessions 🐢 - Teach new tricks or reinforce old ones; it’s great for bonding! Physical and mental exercise are both important, but a couple of vigorous, fun training sessions is often way better for your dog than going bananas at the bark park.

🐾 Hit the Town πŸš— - Your well-behaved pooch is welcome in several craft, book and hardware stores around the valley, you just need to know where to look! Make sure you are respectful and ask BEFORE you arrive with Fido in-tow.

If you are having trouble thinking outside of the pet store, message me for some ideas!

(Photo description- Nic, a white American Bulldog with brown ears and an underbite sits in a bookstore. He is looking at the camera with big brown eyes and his jowl is caught on this lower tooth. His expression is attentive and comfortable. Behind him is an orange display shelf packed with books.)

Remember Alexis and Eagle πŸ¦… her feisty chiweenie?

They finished their package a little over a month ago and I just got this ✨pupdate️✨️ from them this morning!

Eagle has stranger danger and a MAJOR barking problem. 🚨🚨🚨

He came to Alexis from a hoarding situation and was likely very unsocialized as a young dog. He can be very untrusting of new people and even with his tiny stature, he could wake the dead with his barking. 😨

Company was welcomed with 45 minutes of non-stop barking, then when he finally calmed down, anytime someone stood up, he'd start all over again! Not to mention reacting to everything he could see from the window and every little noise. πŸ“£πŸ“£πŸ“£

Like many chihuahuas, he is whip-smart, learned fast and loved the process! πŸ§ πŸ€“πŸ₯°

After going through my Reformed Rover tutoring package, Eagle is a happier boy and mom has a more peaceful household! 😌 πŸ•Š

✨️ Real, honest to goodness behavior change starts with the dog's emotions. There is no quick-fix but the results are lasting with no need for continuous punishment or corrections. ✨️

Eagle πŸ¦… understands now that the world 🌎 is safer than he thought it was and knows now that he can regulate his behavior. He's not perfect (who is?) but he is doing so well and will continue to get better and better. 😊

And if he needs more support, his mom knows where to find me πŸ˜‰

I have availability in August for ✨️new clients!✨️ Send me a DM and we'll schedule a call to talk about your pup! ☎️🐩

Hey friends! I've been seeing so many misguided and outright hateful posts. With everything going on in the world right now, I want to make sure it's super clear:

There is no place for hate here.

If it weren't for the support of my LGBTQ+ friends, Love My Dog Trainer wouldn't exist.

So, in honor of them and in direct opposition to the vitriol I've been seeing, I'd like to announce a (very modest) donation drive!

If you donate to your favorite LGBTQIA+ charity, send me a screenshot and I will match your donation! At the end of June, whatever I have left of my matching fund will be donated to onenten.org, a local Phoenix charity supporting LGBTQ youth and young adults in our community.
