I want to show you what the founding members of Life Ready Horse are walking into this week.

This is not a list of exercises. This is a system.

And here is how the first three weeks build on each other:

Week 1 — Posture. Presence. Moving the Feet.
Before you ever pick up a rein, your horse is already reading you.
This week you learn what your body is actually communicating and how to use your presence and posture to keep your horse with you mentally and move their feet with intention.
When you direct the feet you get to the mind. This is where that starts.

Week 2 — Sending, Hindquarters, and Connecting the Rein to the Hind Foot
Sending your horse forward on the ground is similar to what happens when you ride. Learn how to build your horse’s confidence through sending.
This week we also connect the halter rope to a hind foot. That connection is the foundation of soft departures, correct leads, responsiveness in the saddle, and eventually side passing, pivots, and everything that requires your horse to truly move off of feel.
This is only week 2. And people say this is when everything begins to click.

Week 3 — Moving Over, Side Passing, Clarity and Consistency Layer by layer. Moving over comes first. Then we build toward side pass work. We are working on your body language, clarity, energy and feel.

This week also includes a bonus mindset and identity session. Because after 20 years of teaching I know this: the biggest thing standing between most riders and the horse they want is not a lack of skill. It is how they see themselves which affects our confidence. We work on that too.

And we will still have 17 weeks to go.

Seven people have already joined this founding group.

They start Wednesday night.

Upon request (busy holiday weekend), We are leaving enrollment open until Wednesday, 7:00 PM CST.
Our Meet and Greet is on on Zoom at 7:30 PM Wednesday.

I grew up with horses. I was a good rider. I had some success. But I always knew I wanted something more. I just couldn't name what it was.

Groundwork is not just for beginners.

Learning horsemanship, really learning it, happens in four layers.
Layer 1: You know it. You've heard it. You understand the concept.
Layer 2: You can make it happen. It works sometimes. Functional but not yet fluent.
Layer 3: You're doing it. Things are clicking. Your horse is responding.
Layer 4: It's part of you. Any horse. Any situation. On the fly.

Most riders spend years stuck in Layer 2. Not because they aren't working hard. Because nobody ever showed them the complete picture underneath.

That's what groundwork really is.

Not something you graduate from. Something you go deeper into.

When your groundwork is right, quality pivots happen.
The inside front foot reaching out and back. The inside hind stepping back and making room. The connection from the rein (or lead rope) to the foot. It all starts on the ground long before you ever get in the saddle.

If your pivots are not happening, I promise you something is missing. Fix it in your groundwork and the pivot fixes itself.

This is also true for side passing, lead departures, backing, and trail obstacles.

The ground is where you build the language.
The saddle is where you speak it.

Now imagine riding somewhere new. A trail you have never been to. A new arena. An obstacle you have never seen.
Instead of bracing, you breathe.

Instead of managing, you lead.
Your horse looks to you.
They follow your intention.
That is Layer 4.
That is what we are working toward.

This is not just for beginners. I was a good rider before I learned what I am teaching. This is for riders who are ready to stop collecting pieces and get to the next level.

Something I've been working toward for a long time is finally here.

For years I've been teaching clinics across Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, Arizona, West Virginia, and South Dakota. Watching riders finally get it. Watching horses transform right in the moment.

And then watching them load up and drive home.

That's always been the hardest part. I get you to the aha moment and then I have to let you go.

I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Today, I am offering it to you.

The Core of Horsemanship: Build a Life Ready Horse is open for enrollment.

It's a 20-week program — rooted in Vaquero horsemanship, natural horsemanship, a touch of dressage, and trail obstacles — and it's the first time I've taught all of it in one complete system.

That wall chart you see?
That's 20 lessons. All in one place. For the first time.

This is for you if:
🐴 Something keeps coming up with your horse that you can't quite fix
🐴 You've left clinics feeling amazing and then lost it at home
🐴 You want a horse that's calm, responsive, and ready for real life
🐴 You love trail obstacles and know they're just the beginning

Starts May 26.
$497.
I'm with you for 26 weeks.

Time is running out to get registered.

The 3-DAY LEADership CHALLENGE starts tomorrow!

This challenge is designed to be fun and simple, yet surprisingly effective for you and your horse.

HOW IT WORKS:

The Email: You will get an email from me around 9:00 AM each morning (May 13, 14, and 15) with a link to that day's video.

The Schedule: You can watch the video whenever it fits into your day.

The Action: Try the exercise with your horse when you have a moment.

The Community: Hop into our private Facebook group to interact! Tell us what you learned, what surprised you, or ask questions. You can even upload a video of yourself doing the exercise if you’d like some feedback.

"What if I fall behind?" I’ve had a few people ask this, so I decided to leave the replays up for about 30 days. You don't have to worry about rushing; you can go at your own pace.

Seriously... what else can you get for a dollar these days that will actually improve the relationship you have with your horse?

Get registered now before we start tomorrow!

So your horse is acting like a total BAFFOON. 🐴

If you read yesterday’s email, you might already have a guess about why.
It could be a number of things. Lack of training. Not enough time spent together. Ulcers. Saddle fit. A bad day. Sure.
But if you guessed leadership problem, you are correct.

When a horse doesn’t have a clear leader, they fill that job themselves. And horses are not great leaders. They’re reactive. They’re impulsive. They’re on high alert, because in their mind, nobody is watching out for them. So they have to watch out for themselves.
That looks like spooking. Ignoring you. Rushing. Bolting. Checked out one minute and explosive the next.
It’s not bad behavior. It’s a horse doing the best they can without the leadership they need.

The good news? When YOU become that leader. When you get clear, when your body language starts speaking their language, they find their place. When they know where they fit, they relax. They stop fulfilling a job they never wanted in the first place.

So back to the problem. Your horse is acting like a buffoon. You need to do something in this moment to shift the situation.

What do you do?

The quickest way back is by directing the feet.

WHEN YOU DIRECT THE FEET YOU GET TO THE MIND.

Have you heard that term before?
I first came across it 20+ years ago, when I was just starting to realize there was so much more to horsemanship than what I grew up knowing. I saw it in magazines. On videos. I heard people say it.
But I still didn’t really understand it.
I tried to imitate what I saw with my horse. Try as I might, it didn’t work. Why not? Because nobody ever really explained it to me. Nobody gave me the whole picture.
Personally, I don’t think there should be secrets in the horsemanship world. I think you deserve to understand the who, the what, and the why.

So join me next week for the 3-Day LEADership Challenge. It will be a dollar well spent. I promise.

And directing those feet?
I’m going to show you a super simple way to do exactly that. Yes, effective groundwork is a fabulous tool. But there’s an even easier way, and I’ll show you.

Three days. One simple exercise. Your own horse. Your own arena.

May 13, 14, and 15. Just $1.
