Seniors struggle in shelter environments and finding adopters can be tough. So many people want a “clean slate, fresh start” so they look for the younger dogs. But seniors deserve loving homes just as much as any other dog.
Thanks to a new partnership with Muttville, we will be able to help more senior dogs. We will be coordinate with both of our local shelters to select seniors for a transport on September 15th. We would love to have foster homes lined up for these sweet pups as we get them confirmed. Most of the seniors will be small breed dogs. These five beautiful dogs are scheduled for a transport to one of our partner rescues in Idaho. They will leave on September 5th to start their new adventure. While all of these dogs are safe at our ranch in Tehachapi, we would love to line up short term fosters for them. Three are puppies and two are adults.

Freedom means so many things and for a dog like Stumpy the road to freedom isn’t always perfect and it isn’t always easy. Stumpy came in to our city shelter with a leg so damaged it couldn’t be saved. Freedom for Stumpy meant he had to lose his leg. He then arrived to rescue one leg short but still hopeful for the freedom rescue could bring through adoption. That freedom just wasn’t happening. Stumpy was amazing, had the best personality and temperament but adopters passed him by for over a month. Stumpy was lingering through no fault of his own.

Thankfully when rescues work together those harder to place dogs and dogs who are lingering have lots of opportunities for freedom. So yesterday Stumpy and another Marleys dog, Butters, made the 5 hour trek to San Francisco and have officially become Rocket Dog Rescue pups! A bigger city means so many more adoption possibilities and Stumpy is such a great dog we know he’ll be scooped up fast! Thanks to our Motor City Mutt Movers program and amazing rescue partners like Rocket Dog freedom is just a bit closer for sweet Stumpy. We can’t wait for him to feel how amazing that freedom will be! Happy ❤️

We are going to be extra busy in the month of August. We have already completed one transport to WA that saved 37 lives. We have 4 additional transports scheduled and two transports already scheduled for September.
These transports are going to San Francisco, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Texas, and even Canada.
We are in need of volunteer drivers and short term fosters.

$82 a day, $576 a week, $2,500 a month, $30,000 a year! Those are our dog food costs each and every year. When you rescue a lot of dogs there’s always a lot of money spent just providing the essentials. This is why we’ve started our Bowls of Hope campaign! Each and every one of you can ensure our dogs always have a full belly and an even more full heart ❤️

As much as we wish rescue could be free it never will. We’ll always need the support of our community to give these lives their second chance. Your donation and participation in this campaign ensures every dog in our care gets exactly what they need during their time with our rescue. Food is the most basic of needs and it’s also one of our biggest expenses.

Bowls of Hope is a fun way to get involved and share the love. You can simply donate, you can start a fundraising team or you can join an existing team. However you choose to support you’re going to spread a lot of love to our furry friends in need. What’s our favorite kind of day? One where we’re saving lives of course and with the help of Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco we were able to give 6 little senior lives their chance 🥰Seniors struggle to make it out of public shelters alive because most adopters are looking for younger dogs. Muttville gives senior pups the extra time they need to find amazing adoptive homes and what an amazing facility they give these little old guys while they wait to find those homes! If you haven’t checked them out please do 😃And just a quick reminder that your donations help keep our Motor City Buick GMC mutt moving program going. Rescue by relocation saves more lives that any other program we have but like all programs there’s a cost to keep it running. Your donation can save hundreds more lives just like these 6 who are getting their 2nd Chance ❤️

Mutt Movers will be extra busy this month as we work with our shelter and rescue partners to save as many lives as we can!
Did you know that you can sponsor a transport?
Our transports vary in cost from $800 to $3000 depending on how far we are traveling and how many dogs we are transporting. When we have four transports going out in one month, those costs can add up quickly. Your support can keep us going and help us save even more lives!

What does transport involve?
We coordinate with the local shelter and our rescue partners to select appropriate dogs for transport. We then create a manifest and stage our transport vehicles. We coordinate drivers for each transport. We make sure the dogs are healthy, have the appropriate documents, get health certs from our veterinarian, and then make the drive to our partners. We typically spend around two weeks coordinating all the different parts of transport and it is worth every minute.
There are many different opportunities for volunteers and we would love to get more of our community involved. Contact us today if you would like to become part of our Mutt Movers team!

Saving lives is what we do and August is going to be a busy month! We already have 4 transports schedule for August and we need your help!!
We have limited space at the rescue ranch to hold dogs for transports and the shelters have even less space. Can you help us by fostering a dog for 3 weeks?
We are partnering with the Bakersfield Animal Care Center for a Montana transport on August 23rd and need fosters! We will be taking 6 dogs in at the ranch but we will have over 30 going on transport. This transport will include small, medium, and large dogs so we can definitely find the right dog for you!

Our Mutt Movers program has saved over 500 lives this year! This program makes a huge difference in our community and we are so thankful for our rescue partners.
How can you support this amazing program?
We always need short term fosters (usually two to three week commitments), volunteers to help us prepare for transport (setting up vehicles, cleaning crates, etc.), volunteer drives (we cover the cost of gas, food, and lodging), sponsors for these trips, and new rescue partners.
