🐾EXCITING NEW PARTNERSHIP FOR MORE SPAY/NEUTER OPTIONS🐾
We are excited to partner with Spay Neuter Initiative of Piedmont (SNIP) to bring additional low-cost spay/neuter services to the animals of Alexander County!
SNIP, a low-cost clinic based in Shelby, will pick up pets from Alexander County Animal Shelter on surgery day, transport them to their facility for surgery, and return them that same afternoon.
Surgery Date: Wednesday, June 10, 2026
Important Details:
• Open to cats and dogs
• 📍 Drop-Off Location: Alexander County Animal Shelter
• ⏰ Drop-off time: 6:30 AM on June 10th
• Pets will be transported to the clinic and cared for by surgical staff throughout the day
• Pets will be brought back to the Animal Shelter after surgery
• 🕔 Pickup time: 5:00 PM the same afternoon
How to Reserve Your Spot:
Appointments are REQUIRED to complete paperwork, pay fees, and secure a surgery slot. Spots are first-come, first-served, so don’t wait!

Surgery Pricing:
🐶 Dogs – Spay (Female):
• Under 50 lbs: $120
• 50–100 lbs: $155
• Over 100 lbs: $180
🐶 Dogs – Neuter (Male):
• Under 50 lbs: $120
• 50–100 lbs: $155
• Over 100 lbs: $180
🐱 Cats:
• Spay (Female): $95
• Neuter (Male): $65
• Feral Cat: $50 (includes pain injection, ear tip, tattoo, and rabies vaccine)
⚠️ Important: You must schedule an appointment to come to the shelter ahead of time to complete paperwork and pay the surgery fee. This is what secures your pet’s spot.
