For a few minutes of entertainment, we fill our air, soil, and waterways with toxic substances such as *barium, strontium, copper, aluminum, lead, antimony, perchlorates, and fine particulate pollution*. We terrify pets, wildlife, and livestock, increase the risk of devastating wildfires, and send firefighters into dangerous situations to protect lives, homes, and forests.
Americans spend nearly *$3 billion every year on fireworks*, while millions of people struggle to afford food, shelter, and basic necessities.
Our Mother Earth, our beloved Pachamama, is hurting. She gives us the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food that nourishes us, and the beauty that inspires us. She deserves better than being poisoned, burned, and polluted for a few moments of entertainment.
Perhaps it is time to ask ourselves: Is this truly a celebration, or simply a tradition we have never stopped questioning?
May we awaken to choices that honor life, protect our planet, and reflect greater compassion for all beings.
Our Pachamama deserves our gratitude, not our pollution. ❤️🐾🌎🙏
