These two boys have had such a very sad life. They were found and taken to Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center (formerly Hillsborough County Animal Services). It was then discovered they were used as bait dogs, and when they were just left to die, they found their way into the heart of a woman who runs a rescue like no other. She loves them all, no matter what the challenge. In fact, the more of a challenge, the more she wants to help them. So is the story with Washington and Lincoln. Without Dawn Jenkins Bethel, these two boys would have never stood a chance at life. They would have been ignored by many and tossed aside as dogs used as bait. They have made great strides with the training they have had thus far. Little baby steps to them, huge strides to Dawn. There is still much to do for them, and doing this is not as easy as one might think. It takes patience. It takes time. It takes lots of love, and it takes money. These boys had a wonderful trainer who was working closely and regularly with them and had seen positive changes. However, this wonderful trainer sadly lost his life last week. This not only caused a terribly huge loss to his family and friends, but the countless dogs who were being trained by him will also be affected. I cry for the dogs who were being trained by this great man, because he never gave up on them. He worked hard to make great changes in their lives and to give them confidence. You could see the love they had for him. They trusted him.
Dawn now must replace this trainer with someone who can work closely with Washington and Lincoln, at a higher cost. Regardless of the cost, Dawn Jenkins Bethel will not give up on them. She is determined to see these two sad boys have the happy life they deserve. She will work hard to be sure this happens.
We are asking our amazing Village to help get these boys the life they need and deserve. A donation from anyone and everyone who can help would be immensely appreciated not only by Dawn, but mostly by Washington and Lincoln. These two WILL have that happy life one day. They WILL trust people again, and most importantly, they WILL love again.
Pleae help us raise funds for these two defeated souls...Washington was pulled from HCAS in the last hour. His picture speaks a thousand words, but the ones most apparent are defeat, fear and hopelessness. Washington has scars all over his body and appears to be used as a bait dog. Lincoln's story..…
