On August 4, 2025, a small six-pound Pomeranian named Scout scared off a black bear that had wandered into his family’s home in West Vancouver, Canada. Reports say the bear slipped in through an open door, ate Scout’s food, and started roaming around the living room before the little dog stepped in.
Security video shows Scout bursting out of a side room, barking nonstop as he chased the bear through the kitchen, down the steps, and right to the fence. His owner rushed after him with bear spray, but by then Scout had already chased the intruder away.
The footage quickly spread online, with people calling Scout a hero. The owner joked that the bear’s biggest mistake was stealing Scout’s breakfast. Since then, the bear hasn’t been back, and Scout has been enjoying his moment of fame, watching himself on TV and getting spoiled with treats.
