Cat Crusaders Inc Cat Crusader's mission is to rescue, vaccinate, neuter and find loving adoptive homes for stray cats.

Due to the overwhelming number of homeless, abandoned and abused cat in Tampa Bay, Cat Crusaders (tampacatcrusaders.org) was established August 2010 as one of the few cat rescue organizations. SALSA is a one year old calico female looking for someone to love and play with her. She enjoys jingle balls, catnip mice and squeaky birds and has an adorable squeak for a meow. She is independent and enjoys supervising near you but is not a Velcro kitty. Salsa does not care for other female cats, and tolerates her boyfriend, so she may prefer to be the only cat. Salsa is available in out Foster to Adopt program.

If we’re being completely honest, there’s a lot of joy that comes with kitten season - holding those tiny babies in our hands, watching them open their eyes for the first time and take their first steps, getting to see them develop from such fragile little babies into strong, adventurous kittens full of life and personality, ready to take on the world. Over the past few weeks you’ve gotten to see glimpses of that joy in the photos that we’ve shared of the kittens "coming soon".
What you don’t see is the other side of kitten season, the side we try to spare our followers from. You don’t see the sleep-deprived faces of the fosters who wake up every two hours to bottle feed their babies. You don’t see the nights they spend cradling fading kittens in their arms, trying to comfort them until they pass away. You don’t see the grief on their faces when the emergency vet tells them there’s nothing they can do. You don’t see the tears and the heartbreak over losing these beautiful babies, or feel the doubt that maybe there’s something else you could have tried that would have saved them, even when you know in your heart that there wasn’t.
Kitten season brings many joys, but each year it also brings with it a heartbreaking sadness, one that is a difficult burden for anyone in rescue to bear. While we joyfully celebrate every milestone that each baby we’ve saved reaches, our hearts break for every sweet soul that we lose along the way, and they break even more knowing that for every one that we lose there are dozens more dying in the streets or being euthanized in shelters.
The only way to stop this suffering is to address the problem where it starts, by ensuring that every cat (whether feral or your personal pet) is responsibly spayed or neutered. It takes a village to do what we do and it is so crucial that we support each other, especially during this crazy and emotionally draining kitten season. If you know someone in rescue, take some time to reach out to them and let them know how great they’re doing. Support them however you can, whether it’s through an encouraging word, a donation of supplies, or offering to assist them in whatever ways they need.
We are so grateful to our fosters, our volunteers, and our supporters for everything that they do, and we cannot begin to express how much we value them and their dedication to cat rescue ❤

SALSA is a one year old calico female looking for someone to love and play with her. She was brought to PCAS as an injured stray and placed on euthanasia list. Cat Crusaders saved her! Her injuries required tail amputation and her pain made her spicy. After healing with her foster family, her sweetness and playfulness have come out. She enjoys jingle balls, catnip mice and squeaky birds and has an adorable squeak for a meow. She is independent and enjoys supervising near you but is not a Velcro kitty. Salsa does not care for other female cats, and tolerates her boyfriend, so she may prefer to be the only cat. She loves the windows and watching the great outdoors. Salsa is available in out Foster to Adopt program.
