That feeling when your organization earns a perfect 100% score from Charity Navigator! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We’re excited to share that HSTB has once again earned a perfect score across all Charity Navigator rating categories: Impact & Results, Accountability & Finance, Culture & Community, and Leadership & Adaptability. 🎉

Fewer than 0.1% of nonprofits (including non-animal charities) worldwide achieve this distinction, and we’re proud to represent Tampa Bay as one of the nation’s most trusted charitable organizations.

Thank you to everyone who makes achievements like this possible. 🤝

⚠️Haters will says it's fake⚠️

One minute Shadow was planting the American flag on the moon. The next, he was orbiting Earth in his rocket ship. Now? He's back on Earth at our Pinellas campus daydreaming about defying gravity while he waits for a foster home. 🚀

This handsome explorer has spent most of his life fighting an autoimmune condition called pemphigus foliaceus, which causes skin inflammation, hair loss, and scabbing. He's receiving medical treatment and is much more comfortable these days, but he'd feel even better in a loving home that can help care for him. 🐈‍⬛

He looks great in a space suit, but he'd look even better with a family. 👨‍🚀

Meet these three best friends: Chief, Bandit, and Leo.🐾❤️

Due to financial hardship and a housing situation that no longer allowed pets, their family made the difficult decision to surrender them to our Pinellas campus.
Chief and Bandit are bloodhound littermates, while Leo the German Shepherd has been part of the crew for years. At 9 and 8 years old, they've spent a lifetime making memories together.

Unfortunately, because of their size and current medical needs, we aren't able to keep all three together all the time. Bandit and Leo are currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which means taking it easy for a little while.
That's why these photos are extra special. ❤️

These sweet seniors deserve soft beds, gentle walks, and families who will love them through their golden years.

Let's help Chief, Bandit, and Leo write their next chapter. 🐶🐶🐶

Not to start drama, but some of our shelter pets think the dogs and cats are hogging the spotlight.🗣️📣

While that may be true, they're not the only animals looking for homes. Some of our biggest personalities come in smaller packages.

We often have rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, mice, and the occasional bearded dragon named Tom Brady. He doesn't sign autographs, and he doesn't come with any jewelry... but he will do meet and greets.

ANYWAYS. Come see what critters we have available for adoption! 🦎🐭🐹🐦

Happy 1st Birthday, Goose!🎂

Yesterday, staff celebrated a very special boy who has come a long way and is finally ready for adoption.🎉

Goose came to us at just 9 months old, emaciated and weighing only 30 pounds. After spending time in a loving foster home gaining weight and strength, we realized something still wasn't right. X-rays revealed multiple old injuries, including rib fractures, spinal injuries, and severe damage to his left hip and leg. The extent of those injuries suggested Goose may have been hit by a car or experienced some other significant trauma when he was younger. To give him the best quality of life, our veterinary team made the decision to amputate his left hind leg.

Despite everything he's endured in just a short time, Goose has adapted and is a happy, playful boy. We believe he may be a Lab/Great Dane mix, which means he comes with a big frame (minus 1 leg) and an even bigger heart. He may technically be an "adult" now being a 1 year old and weighing 57 pounds, but he still thinks he can fit in your lap and is working on his manners. With some training, consistency, and a lot of love, we know he'll make an incredible best friend. 🐶

Let's get this good boy adopted!

Introducing our shelter pets, as illustrated by our Critter Campers! 🎨 🐾

Each camper drew a shelter dog and wrote their own description to showcase what makes them special. Their artwork will be displayed alongside the dogs’ kennel cards for visitors to enjoy at our Hillsborough campus.

Swipe to see some of the drawings alongside the adorable models who inspired them 💛

We have a confession to make… we want Chewy gone🐶

After arriving in October 2025, Chewy, the 5-year-old terrier has spent 240 days with us. He was surrendered to our Hillsborough shelter due to his high energy. Since, then he has become our longest resident watching countless dogs get adopted before him. 💔

Chewy enjoys the simple things in life: walks, playtime, and a good bone to curl up with. He is potty trained and has successfully completed heartworm treatment!

Chewy’s ideal home looks like:
-An active individual who enjoys walks
-A home with room to stretch his legs
-Being the center of attention as the only pet
-Structured outings that set him up for success

Chewy would love to meet you! ❤️
