Lots of love for the isopods. Did you know that they remove heavy metals from soil? They are also a crustacean and more closely related to shrimp and lobsters than insects.

In honor of Fathers Day. Here are the top 3 animal dads. #3 is the seahorse. Male seahorses have a pouch where females deposit their eggs. Once deposited, the male fertilizes the eggs and incubates them for up to 45 days until they emerge as fully developed little seahorses. (Pic by Paul Zahl) #2 Is the Marmoset. Male marmosets take their roles as fathers very seriously. The typical marmoset dad grooms, feeds, and gives piggyback rides to his infant children while the marmoset mom steps away. #1 Is the Emperor Penguin. The male is responsible for keeping the egg warm through the freezing Antarctic winter. The emperor penguin dad spends two months holding the egg precariously between the tops of his feet and his brooding pouch. Throughout the brutal winter, when freezing winds can reach 120 mph, the father doesn't eat anything, dedicating all his time to incubating the egg. (Pic by stevespida)

This is the adorable Colugo. Colugos are arboreal gliding mammals that are native to Southeast Asia. Their closest evolutionary relatives are primates. There are just two living species of colugos: the Sunda flying lemur and the Philippine flying lemur. These two species make up the entire family Cynocephalidae. They are the most capable gliders of all gliding mammals. A fur-covered membrane, called a patagium, connects to the face, paws, and tail. This enables them to glide in the air for distances of up to 200 metres (660 ft) between trees. Photos by Flickr, IMG Kid, and Norman Lim

This alligator at Circle B Bar Reserve in Florida filled its jaws with mud and skillfully filtered it through its teeth, reminiscent of how a gold pan works. Just take a moment to observe the mesmerizing water droplets rising from its snout and the fish seemingly suspended in time within its powerful jaws. Amazing photo by Billy Young Photography.
