🚨Summer 2024: CYTAUXZOONOSIS is rampant in Leon County🚨
Cytauxzoonosis, otherwise known as "Bobcat Fever", is a nasty disease caused by a parasite and can be life threatening. Since May, SMAH has already hospitalized 5 cats with this diagnosis.

Our strongest recommendation is to make sure your pet is on a prescription flea & tick preventative year around. Monthly topical medications can prevent ticks from latching on long enough to spread this nasty disease. ALERT: Important info regarding your pet's microchip 🚨

Save This Life, the microchip company, has recently gone out of business. This means their services, including their pet recovery database, are no longer available. Unfortunately South Monroe has used Save This Life microchips for many years.

If your pet is registered with a Save This Life microchip, it is crucial that you register your pet's microchip with a different company to ensure your pet can be identified and returned to you if lost.

To re-register your microchip at no cost, we recommend creating an account with Free Pet Microchip Registry.

You can also re-register your pet's microchip with HomeAgain, PetLink or AKCReunite. These registries may require an additional membership fee.
