Dr. Meintel treats primarily companion animals (cats and dogs), however she does see exotic animals from time to time such as iguanas, guinea pigs, and chickens.

House Calls: $150 initial consultation and $85 Follow up treatments.

Talent Office: $150- initial consultation and $85 Follow up treatments.

Initial consultation includes: a review of patient records prior to visit, physical, orthopedic, neurological, and myofascial palpation exam, followed by an acupuncture treatment. Allow 1-1.5 hours for the first visit, depending on the pet. Allow 30-45 minutes for follow-up treatments.

What to expect:

Acupuncture is not a "one shot wonder". Acupuncture requires several treatments over the course of a few weeks in order to reach a level of pain control and healing that will persists after the accumulation process.

Acupuncture is typically performed 1-2 times/week for 4-6 weeks. Treatments are then tapered to the frequency necessary to maintain an animal's improvement. Most patients receive monthly or every 6 week treatments after the initial building period. This also depends upon what disease is being treated. From time to time, a “rescue” treatment is needed if a flare-up of pain or undesirable symptoms from disease occurs between treatments.

Improvement is typically seen in this 4-6 week time frame, if it is not, then it is usually a case where further diagnostics are needed to more accurately pin-point where the problem is or it may be that the pain/dysfunction is so long standing (chronic) that more time is needed in order to interrupt the perpetual pain cycle.
