To the customers of calvins place dog daycare.
We have been asked by multiple clients about information on the Canine Influenza. The symptoms are similar to those found in humans infected with the flu, including cough, sneezing, lethargy, fever, and discharge from the nose or eyes. This virus spreads by the respritory fluids that go airborn when coughing or sneezing. It can also spread by contaminated objects, like a waterbowl. There are two different strands of Canine Influenza (CIV H3N8, CIV H3N2) both of which are covered by vaccines. This is a Two stage vaccine with a three week gap between shots, costing about $40.00 total. The Veterinarians we have spoken with highly recommend the vaccinations to protect your pets and others. It is highly unlikly to have an animal die from this illness, but as always older pets are more at risk due to weekend immune systems.
Calvins Place is not making this vaccine a requirement just a recommendation to ensure your animals are protected and stay healthy. Our sources say there are no reported cases yet this year but there is always the possibility of it happening. If more information on the virus is needed we have a pamphlet availible at our front desk from the vets.
