This is a tough read, but one I thought might be helpful to post. I'm always looking for articles that give me added perspective. This one certainly did and I recommend it - especially for those of you dedicated to helping and adopting rescue dogs. I've come across this situation many times and it can be both rewarding and heartbreaking. I welcome comments.

To love another animal so different and useless is to remind ourselves of how strange, complex, and irresponsible our behavior as humans can be.

CitiZEN Dog - Our Meet & Greet Class - it works! living with your dog!

"We took our 3 year old Goldendoodle, Ole to Deb’s Advanced Meet and Greet Class to work on increasingly reactive behavior. Being new parents we knew we had to intervene before this became an issue with our toddler. Prior to the class when we went on walks Ole would bark and lunge at dogs, cars and sometimes people on scooters or skateboards. During the class we learned techniques to focus and calm Ole, redirect him and counter-condition him to stimuli. On the last day of class I took him for his regular walk and he did not bark or react once—not to a dog, human or even—and this is his biggest trigger—an Amazon van. This is a great class for those with reactive pets!"
