Please join Urban Delights Community Learning Farm, Jubilee Homes, Onondaga Earth Corps and Syracuse Grows for a Community Volunteer Day on Saturday, April 19th!

Community gardens and urban farms throughout Syracuse will be hosting work days and are in need of volunteer help to ready gardens for the upcoming growing season.

Good morning urban delights family and happy black history month! today’s black history person is Huey P. Newton. Born on February 17.1942, Newton was a political activist and also founded the black panther party.

Today’s Black History Month public figure is Althea Gibson. Althea Gibson was the first African American player in women’s tennis; she was also the first black player to win both the Wimbledon and the French and U.S. Open titles. She didn’t just stop at tennis either she also broke the color barrier in golf as well, by being the first African American player on the women’s pro golf tour. Breaking barrier after barrier Althea Gibson is just one of many black history pioneers.🤎🫶🏽
