The next Onondaga County Health Department rabies clinic is:
* Thursday, August 20, 5 - 7 p.m.

😁 Appointments are always appreciated and so are donations. But walk-ins are welcome and the vaccination is free.

* Bring proof of your cat or dog's previous rabies vaccination to receive a certificate good for three years.
* It's your pet's first rabies vaccination? YAY! for bringing your fur baby. You'll receive a certificate requiring a booster vaccination in one year. After that 1-year booster, vaccinations are required every three years.
* Ferrets must be vaccinated annually.

🙏 Please have your pet securely leashed/harnessed or in a secure carrier.

Don't miss this chance to protect your precious furbaby from deadly but preventable rabies. (Plus, it's New York State law!)

So far this year in Onondaga County, two bats and one raccoon have tested positive for rabies. There have been no reported human cases of rabies during this time period.

Fixing to Help assists with the cost of the surgery appointment for pets of Onondaga County residents with verified low incomes.

🐾 THANK YOU, SYRACUSE! 🐾

We are feeling incredibly grateful after yesterday’s Keep Us Together Pop-Up Pet Food Pantry! ❤️

We met so many wonderful pet owners and, of course, their amazing pets. 🐶🐱 It was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to help keep pets healthy, happy, and right where they belong: with the people who love them.

We’re honored to work alongside incredible community partners like Fixing to Help, Syracuse Police Department Dog Control, and Brown Memorial United Methodist Church to connect local families with pet food, supplies, and information about affordable spay/neuter and vaccinations.

And a huge thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, shared our posts, or helped spread the word. Every bag of food and every connection made helps a family care for a pet they love.

This is what keeping pets and people together looks like. ❤️🐾

Thank you, Syracuse, for showing up for your neighbors and their pets!

At Cuse Pit Crew, we know that pets are family. For many veterans, their dog or cat is more than a companion. They are a source of comfort, purpose, and unconditional love.

That’s why we’re proud to partner with local organizations like the Mattydale Patriot’s Pantry, ensuring that pet food reaches the veterans who need it most. By helping keep pet food in the home, we’re helping keep beloved pets where they belong, with the people who love them.

A huge thank you to Chewy and Humane World for Animals for making these donations possible. Their generosity allows Cuse Pit Crew to receive, organize, and distribute thousands of pounds of pet food to community partners who serve our neighbors every day.

Together, we’re proving that helping people and helping pets go hand in hand.

Because when we keep pets and people together, entire families stay stronger. 💜

🚗🐾 CPC Care Corner #2 : Car Safety for Pets
Whether you’re running errands, heading to the veterinarian, or planning your next road trip, your pet’s safety should always ride shotgun (figuratively, of course!).
Just like we buckle up before hitting the road, our pets deserve the same level of protection. Using a crash-tested harness or secured carrier, keeping pets in the back seat, and never leaving them unattended in a parked vehicle are simple steps that can make a big difference.

We’re excited to introduce a new educational series designed to help pet owners navigate everyday challenges and unexpected situations with confidence. At Cuse Pit Crew, our mission is to help keep pets with the families who love them, and we hope these resources make responsible pet ownership a little easier.
We’re kicking off the series with a guide to building a pet emergency kit. Emergencies can happen when we least expect them, and being prepared isn’t about expecting the worst—it’s about giving yourself and your pet the best chance to stay safe. We’ve included an easy checklist that you can save or screenshot for future reference.
In the coming weeks, we’ll cover topics like:
