🐈⬛💗 Like her namesake candy, Jellybean is filled with sweetness, despite her very tough start! We need your help covering nearly $4,000 of vet care that saved her little life. We know that's a lot of money (and that's with a generous discount from the vet) but this girl was so special and had such a will to live that she deserved a chance to be saved.
This adorable baby was found by herself in a parking lot by a good Samaritan at just 7 weeks old, unable to use one of her back legs and with other injuries. The person who rescued her reached out for help after about a week, when she noticed that Jellybean was having trouble breathing.
A foster was able to get her into a vet right away, where an x-ray showed that she had significant internal trauma—likely from being hit by a car. Her diaphragm had ruptured, and her internal organs had shifted up into her chest cavity, compressing her lungs, and she also had a broken leg.
She was immediately hospitalized and kept on oxygen for a couple days until the veterinary surgeon was back in town and could perform her life saving care!
Jellybean did incredibly well during surgery and even wanted to eat as soon as she woke up afterward. You'd never know this little girl had major surgery considering her s***k and energy. She wants to run around and play, but is on strict crate rest for weeks as she heals from surgery. The hope is that her leg can heal on its own without the need for more surgery.
She'll be up for adoption after she's fully healed!
Donations can be made through this post, or a check can be mailed to PO Box 6182, Syracuse, NY 13217 (add a note that it's for Jellybean).
Any funds received that exceed the amount required to care for this animal while in foster care will be put into our medical fund to assist other animals in foster care with medical needs.
