Maverick is back home with his family after completing his board and train! He learned to understand signals from other dogs, respecting boundaries, especially knowing when enough is enough. He’s able to show affection or playfulness with another dog, without completely overwhelming them. We can’t wait to see all the new friends he makes and old friends he can now better understand. Great job, Maverick! We miss you already! 💜💛

One of our lesson dogs, Ash, out on an adventure! Ash is currently working on some basic obedience and dog reactivity. His family is working hard to make sure Ash gets to be a part of their active lifestyle safely and confidently. 💜💛

Congrats to our group lesson clients for all their dedicated learning alongside their dogs! Our last session was abuzz with excitement as everyone passed their test outs and received their certificates. If you weren’t able to make graduation, we will be in touch to get your test in. Great job, everyone! 💜💛

- Recall
- Sit
- Place
- Heel
- Managing excitement
- Manners (Not jumping, nipping)

These sweet boys sure appreciated the weather being a bit cooler today! Maverick has been working hard on how he handles himself around other pups when he’s excited. Today he hiked an hour and a half with Beans and no growling, no slapping with paws, but still lots of zoomies. Keep it up, Maverick! 💜💛

This goofy boy joins us for a board and train and approaches things in life full throttle. If he’s excited about something, which he is about most things, we are heading there 😅. He has incredibly stability in some ways - he will wait still as a statue for a treat. However, a toy, dog, leaf blowing in the wind… gotta have it right now! Maverick wants so badly to play with dogs, but comes on strong and doesn’t let up or recognize boundaries. This sweet boy came to party and we are going to have some fun!! Let’s go, Maverick! 💜💛

We got to visit with Millie and her sweet family for a hike! Millie was a recent board and train who had reactive behavior around dogs and small animals. A current board and train that joined us on the hike, Rocket, also came to us for issues with dog reactivity. Dogs don’t need to love every other dog, but the ability to remain neutral around other dogs or engage in play with them certainly helps with a more active lifestyle for the whole family. Now Millie gets to go on more adventures and she is loving it! 💜💛

Rocket and Trey working in some high traffic areas. Rocket’s owners are looking for him to have a well rounded lifestyle. As much as you know we’d like to hike all day, everyday, the more environments Rocket experiences during his training, the more confident he’ll be out and about with his family. Great job, Rocket!

When there aren’t enough people out and about, I get to become the distraction 😂. Rocket works on recalling off movement on a dropped leash hike.

I’m excited to see Millie tomorrow for a follow up visit after her board and train. Millie had leash reactivity that had started to form resource guarding and full blown dog reactivity behaviors. Her third day with me she reacted to some pups through a glass door, showing me a glimpse of what her owners were seeing. Millie and I worked on reshaping what the leash meant to her, helping her see it as communication more than restraint. I’ll post her off leash as well, which everyone always loves, but it’s not realistic to think she’ll live completely off leash. The relationship with the leash needed to be addressed so that she doesn’t see everyday interactions as major points of conflict. I sure do miss this girl a lot and can’t wait to see how she looks working with her owners tomorrow! Great job, Millie!! 💜💛

We love seeing everyone’s hard work on lessons at the park around other dogs. Some of the things we’ve tackled so far..

- Stability while another dog engages in freedom
- Greetings (by humans and dogs)
- Recalling by distractions (dogs, humans, toys)
- Walking nicely as a pack on leash
- The difference between a lure and reward
