Gibbs is back! He’s worked hard on realizing he can have positive interactions with dogs from a distance and now it was time to put that new positive mentality to work. Walking Gibbs used to be anxiety filled and dangerous at times for his owner because his reactions were so bad and his first time being able to physically greet a dog in training, he wanted to play. As he learns social cues and boundaries from other dogs, there will of course be points of risk, like the boop he gives sweet Beans here. Instead of reacting negatively to that, we allow space for him to learn, instead of restricting him to the point he can’t. Excellent work, Gibbs! 💜💛

Millie joins us for a board and train, primarily for dog reactivity that has some resource guarding sneaking in there too. Millie is a playful girl, who wants to say hello to everyone, and every dog, and some squirrels and chipmunks too. She knows several commands, but considers them to be more like suggestions and if there are distractions, you can forget it. She’s settling in beautifully and we can’t wait to see what we can achieve! 💛💜

Goofy boy, Gibbs, came to us for severe dog reactivity, having pulled down and injuring his owner several times. Making little progress in his neighborhood, we changed the environment in order to show him a little more freedom and a bigger world. Treating the symptoms of his reactivity wasn’t touching the root of his issue. He’s nervous. A dog barks at him and this giant boy gets nervous. His response of barking and lunging gets dogs to back off, so he repeats this behavior until it’s a habit, making his neighborhood feel like a battle every walk.

Gibbs embracing being a goofy boy has show us he’s now curious around other dogs instead of fearful, or masking with reactivity. And that’s pretty neat. We love to watch you grow, Gibbs! Let’s see what this week brings!

Bark at the Park was a real home run last night! 😉⚾️We had 9 dogs join us for the baseball game and everyone did wonderful. Thank you so much to our wonderful clients for letting us show you some appreciation for your support and to celebrate all your hard work with your pups!

It was so exciting to see some clients out in the wild at the North Syracuse Family Festival, yesterday! If you missed this opportunity to get your pups out with us, we have a Bark in the Park event coming up, June 3rd for a Syracuse Mets game!
