This is a big week for veterinary medicine - it's National Veterinary Technician Week! These are the nurses who clean and polish your pet's teeth, monitor your pet's anesthesia, prepare your pets for surgery, carry out your pet's treatment plans, and more. Be sure to thank Christina, Jill, Cassandra, and Samantha the next time you're in. Without them, the high level of care we provide at Syosset Animal Hospital would not be possible. It is that time of year to show our appreciation for our veterinary assistants. Our assistants are an essential part of our team. They provide your pets with comfort and reassurance during exams. They provide love and care when your pet stays with us. Their job can be back breaking and messy, but they remain kind and compassionate. Please take the time when you visit us to say thank you. Your pets mean the world to us, your kindness will mean the world to our staff.

Fireworks may be fun for most people, but they can be quite scary for pets. If you need medication to keep your pets calm, call us at 516-921-0700. Please give us at least 2-3 days to get your medications in order. This gives us enough time to make sure that they are in stock and triple-checked by our staff.

Other ways to help protect your pets during fireworks are:
- keep them indoors in a safe area
- close the blinds
- play music and/or have the air conditioning or fan on

If your pet isn't a fan of the booming lights, don't hesitate to give us a call.
