As we head into the dogs of the year awards. I feel like it’s time that we need to try and bring our sport of horseback field trials back. Looking at the entries for the past few years. They are going down considerably. Running grounds are getting harder to find and keep. What can we do to help our sport. I would like to suggest that we get together with about 6 or 8 representatives from each part of the country. They need to go to our new owner UKC. Set down with suggestions not demands so we can work together with them in helping our sport. I think we have put all the financial part on our owners. It is getting harder to find owners that are willing to spend this kind of money. The only answer I can come up with is charity work. Putting field trials on for good charities. I feel that would bring in much needed sponsorship. That would also open up running grounds for us. It would be a lot easier to get a yes from state or land owners if they knew it was for a good charity. I sure most of you are concerned about our sport that we love so much future. My career is pretty much over but I still love the sport and would like to see it grow. These are only suggestions. I am sure you have many from the field trial world. I would love to hear from you. Thanks for your time.

It was very rewarding to see all the young boys and girls at the Quail Hollow field trial this weekend. I hope this speaks well for the future of our sport. I also want to thank Bruce and Karen Norton for all their hard work in putting on the trial. It was great seeing old friends again. Hope you all will join us at Spencer’s farms next weekend for another great trial. Thanks to all that made it special. God Bless.
