Our grapes look great. In order to protect them from June beetles and wasps, we wrapped them in row cover cloth. See if that keeps them free from pests!

It feels like August; hot! Plants and animals are just getting on with life. Hope the real summer is not a hot and dry one like last year. Just enjoy the moment I guess! 🖖

As you may have noticed, we haven't posted anything in over a year. The reason for it is that we no longer "farm" to sell fruit and veggies. We still grow thing, but on a much smaller scale just for our own consumption. We still have eggs and we'll sell those, but only in farm. Thanks for liking our page. We'll try posting more pictures of our bees 🐝. Started that last year, and suddenly we have 4 hives. Crazy those bees 🐝, but very interesting.

Good morning everyone! Don't forget to go to the Mentone farmer's market this morning. Even in winter there's something good to be had.
Eileen is there this morning with fresh farm eggs and Escarole.
She hopes to see you there!
Thanks for supporting local farmers and artisans.

July 4th Hugel Update: With all the rain we have been having, everything looks pretty lush. The peas finally started blooming. The cherry tomatoes start to turn red now. We've had a few small baskets so far. Good to just eat. The other tomatoes are still green, but I am afraid they will all ripen at once. The June bugs and Japanese beetles start to devastate some of the Okra plants, but so far only a few, and they are leaving everything else alone. That does not mean they haven't done a lot of damage to other plants in the rest of the garden. Peaches are all gone, they do a job on our rose hips, grape leaves, you name it. I am wondering if plants in the Hugel area where so many grow closely together, and in several different places, most plants may have a chance to survive. Found a few yellow squash too. The melon plants seem to do well. They started to flower. Have not seen any fruit yet. It's good to see the bumble bees all over flowers. They're doing their jobs. Stay tuned for another update soon.
