When someone claims that "No Kill" turned away animals in need, they are not describing No Kill. They are referring to the HASS model, which stands for Human Animal Support Services. This model quietly tries to change the meaning of “No Kill” into “no intake, no responsibility, no sheltering, no accountability.”

The outcome is expected. Animals are turned away, denied safety, and left to die untracked, uncounted, and unprotected in the community. That is not No Kill; it is abandonment disguised as “innovation.”

Real No Kill shelters do the opposite. They take animals in, treat them, house them, adopt them out, and save 95 to 99 percent of all healthy and treatable pets. They do not hide the numbers. They do not push animals back onto the streets. They do not pretend that refusing intake is “progress.”

HASS is a cost-cutting model that pushes the burden onto the public while allowing shelters to claim inflated “live release” numbers. It is a bookkeeping trick, not a lifesaving program.

Stopping the killing is only the first step in the equation. TNR, proactive redemption, accessible adoptions, community assistance programs, low-cost or free spay/neuter, abundant volunteers, compassionate leadership, local policy reform, a dedicated foster network, pet retention, and rehabilitation programs are also just as important.

So yes, let’s count the animals denied safety. Let’s count those hit by cars, starved, poisoned, shot, or killed by wildlife because a shelter announced “we’re No Kill now” while locking the doors. Let's expose them for what they truly are: the opposite of "No Kill;" and by adopting HASS, they no longer qualify as shelters.

No Kill saves lives. HASS abandons them. We are not the same.

Kill apologists parroting false information will be banned.

URGENT 🚨 🚨🚨
Meet our newest intake :
This sweet calico fur girl desperately needs the help of the rescue community right now !!!

We responded to an urgent msg today.
It is believed that this beauty was hit by a car in a residential area earlier today.

We are en route to an emergency animal hospital with a specialist / surgeon on staff.
It appears that her jaw is broken.

We aren’t certain if it’s a simple fracture or complex.
But we will update this post as we find out more info once she is assessed at the hospital 🏥

A quick Google search as well as the hospital rep we spoke to indicates that the bill can range anywhere from 1K-3K depending on how severe the fracture is.

Our rescue was unprepared for an urgent 🚨 intake at this time.
Our intake status is closed but we couldn’t look the other way today.
We desperately need to raise funds to ensure she gets the care she needs ASAP!

Donations can be called in to University Of Tennessee small animal
Veterinary Hospital under acct name (Tiramisu )

Meet Jynx :
A spunky orange miracle cat ! 😻
Jynx Is our rescue’s spring feel good story!
Less than 2 months ago our rescue did intake on some very sick cats from a hoarding location.
Two of the cats were critically urgent due to severe dehydration / malabsorption from extensive untreated parasitism.
Unfortunately, 1 of the two most urgent cats we took in succumbed to coinfection of coccidia amd toxoplasmosis within the first 30 hrs of intake.
Jynx pulled through after being perilously ill and going through severe parasite die off symptoms.

She is thriving !
Gaining weight
She has a hearty appetite
We have sent coccidia packing
We’ve ejected roundworms
We went from greasy / blood tinged BM’s to solid normal BM’s
She has lots of healthy cat energy and we are hopeful that there was no long term damage to her GI system from the severe parasitic infections she was plagued with.
We are wrapping up this wk with her final days of treatment for toxoplasmosis.
She is alert
Her reflexes are what a healthy cat’s should be
And by all intents she seems to be Miraculously fully recovering!❤️‍🩹

Please join us in celebrating Jynx return to good health and recovery!
She will be available for adoption before summer 😻
And we feel certain she’s going to brighten someone’s life with her playful energy and new lease on life !
