Our pet of the month is Ms Cleocatra!! Not only are we obsessed with her name but we are obsessed with the bio her mom wrote out for her!!

Dearest Gentle Reader,

It is not every day that one witnesses the workings of the mysterious Cat Distribution System, yet during the bitter frost of December 2023, fate delivered one most magnificent creature unto her chosen kingdom. The illustrious Cleocatra, with all the certainty of a reigning monarch, dashed across the yard and directly into the waiting arms of her future mama — sparing them the indignity of capture. One could hardly mistake such behavior for anything less than destiny. Thus, “The Queen” ascended to her rightful throne.

Since that fateful winter’s eve, Queen Cleocatra has governed her castle with remarkable authority, most especially over her devoted seven-year-old Royal Subject, whose bed Her Majesty graciously occupies each night. Of course, no royal court is without its scandalous nuisance, and so the Queen must endure the presence of her feline brother, Bartholomeow — a notorious rogue devoted to chaos and testing the limits of her royal patience.

Yet even the grandest kingdoms are not spared moments of distress. In the summer of 2025, Her Majesty fell gravely ill. She ceased eating and lost three pounds — a devastating circumstance for a queen of merely nine pounds in stature. Her anxious mama embarked upon a lengthy campaign of appointments, medications, bloodwork, x-rays, and ultrasounds, all in pursuit of answers worthy of the crown.

At last, they sought the wisdom of Best Friends Animal Hospital and the esteemed Dr. Deni for a second opinion. Through careful investigation and a most thoughtful treatment plan, Dr. Deni achieved what seemed nearly impossible: within twenty-four hours, Queen Cleocatra had returned to feasting as only royalty can. Before long, she resumed her noble duties of supervising her household and attempting to keep the unruly Bartholomeow in line.

Most recently, at Her Majesty’s annual check-up, the royal bloodwork returned absolutely perfect — news that sent relief and celebration throughout the Ton.

Indeed, her grateful subjects cannot thank Best Friends Animal Hospital and Dr. Deni enough for restoring Queen Cleocatra to full health.

Yours Truly,
Lady Whistledown

🐾 We are AAHA accredited! Best Friends Animal Hospital is one of the VERY FEW animal hospitals that are AAHA accredited in St Clair County! We strive to provide top notch care to all of our patients, big or small. Accreditation is no joke, our team goes above and beyond to make this possible. Below is straight from AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) on what this accomplishment really means! 🐾

"Accreditation is an acknowledgement of a specific achievement.

An AAHA accreditation signifies that your veterinary practice has met or exceeded stringent quality standards that encompass all aspects of veterinary medicine, from pain management to medical record-keeping, and has committed to a path of continuous improvement.

AAHA is the only organization that accredits veterinary practices in the United States and Canada. Practices seeking AAHA accreditation are evaluated on nearly 50 mandatory standards as well as additional applicable standards.

AAHA’s standards were developed by experts in the field and encompass all aspects of veterinary medicine. They are continuously updated to keep accredited practice teams at the forefront of the profession.

Accreditation is Voluntary
Unlike the human health world, accreditation of animal hospitals is voluntary. So why have more than 4,500 practices representing 50,000 veterinary team members joined AAHA as an accredited practice, willingly striving to meet a higher standard of care?

It’s simple: they want to be the best for their patients.

An AAHA accreditation is a strong indication that a veterinary practice delivers quality medicine – which positively impacts your patients, clients, and team and raises the bar for the entire veterinary profession."
