Specializing in Shelter/Rescue dog transitions. I am a retired Department of Defense educator and Behavioral Specialist that taught school for 33 years. I began my new career while training my beloved Gibbs. Gibbs and I were being trained by Paws 4 People to be an ADI certified Therapeutic Facility dog to work with PTSD and Wounded Warriors. Working and training Gibbs became a passion and led me t

o my new journey. Gibbs and I realized are dream and began working with Wounded Warriors and Veterans. Seeing what good training could do for a rescue dog like Gibbs, sparked a desire to help Shelter dogs find their forever home. I began Volunteering at the local Animal Shelter training dogs to do better at the adoption events. With that passion I went back to college to be certified as a Professional Dog Handler, Certified Professional Dog Trainer with Animal Behavioral College and AKC Evaluator. The main reason for volunteering as a trainer at the Shelter was to help dogs to gain skills to make them more adoptable. Untrained, unruly dogs with behavioral problems are the main reason dogs end up at shelters and eventually get euthanized. I was hoping to help to save lives four paws at a time. Even though I’m professionally training dogs now, I continue to volunteer my training skills to help the shelter dogs. I owe all of that to a dog named Blue, a blue nosed Pitbull. I began training Blue, I wish I could say I was the dog whisper, but truly it was Blue. Blue learned all basic and advance obedience skills. I even started training him service dog skills from Gibbs. After several months Blue was ready for adoption but unfortunately and sadly through a series of events Big Blue had to cross the rainbow bridge to heaven. At first I thought I could never go back to the shelter but I knew to honor Big Blue who helped me to develop my training skills I would continue to save as many dogs as I could. Now every time when a dog gets adopted I say, this one is for you Blue. I use positive training techniques and teach you to train your dog. We will work together to develop the right treatment plan to help you furry child be at their best. A well trained dog is a happy, healthy dog. When I see my clients work with their furry child I know the dog will have a fur-ever home

Gibbs Training Pawz LLC, is a certified professional dog training company that works with you and your furry child in your home to find a program that works best for your family.

After an evaluation in your home GTP designs a training program suited best for you and your dog in the areas of obedience skills, behavioral problems, dog games and Good Citizenship Programs.

Then the skills learned in the home will be tried out in town in different location determined by the trainer and family.
GibbsTrainingPawzLLC , does whatever it takes to have you and your doggie be successful at training.

The family learns that it takes consistency, patience, time and love to have a successful training experience. They also learn it is well worth the process.

Pappy Boyington, would have been six today.
He was taken from us way to soon. But in his short life he learned so much and was was the bestest brother to a crazy puppy McGee.
I miss this sweet Rescue baby 😢…. He was a gift in my life…. Thank you Pappy for the blessing in my life.. McGee and I miss you an love you forever. ❤️

Congratulations Leo, this 7 month old Golden Doodle is a big boy and such a Sweetheart.
Leo finished his basic obedience plus program and earned his AKC Good Citizen. In November he earned his AKC STAR Puppy 🌟
This adorable pup, had some fear going into public places but he’s being a real champ and working hard.
Thank you to his amazing family for working hard too. 🙏🏻🐾❤️

Congratulations to 2 year old little Sophie… she completed her basic obedience plus program and also AKC Good Citizen.
Sophie and her mom have come along way.
Sophie hated car rides, but now she’s becoming a real trooper when it comes to riding along with mom. Sophie is such a sweetheart!!!!

Congratulations to George and his mom. George passed his basic obedient plus program and AKC. Good citizen. George is a rescue Boxer mix. At the time of these pictures he was close to seven months old.
George and his mom practice every day and it truly paid off. Congratulations to the both of you.

Grief I’ve learned is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but can’t.

All the love that gathers in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat and in the hollow part of your chest.

Grief is just so much love with no place to go.
And the tears well they are just my memories rolling down my cheeks. I am so blessed for the memories.

Leroy Jethro “Gibbs” Tortorici, unexpectedly slipped the surly bonds of earth reached out his paw and touch the face of God… wee hours of the morning…. October 28, 2017. (Cancer)
Five years have passed and I miss him more than ever.

Went to heaven October 13, 2021 … and McGee and I miss him so. (cancer)

From last year at this time I lost my sister Annetta, my brother Fred, My sister Pat, memory to Alzheimer’s
and my Pappy. It’s been tough but with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ… life goes on.

Both these awesome dogs were a blessing in my life and to all the lives they touched as Therapy dogs.
They were not just dogs they were my furry sons.
I will be forever grateful for their unconditional love, their hard work, dedication and willingness to train. They did all this so they could give to others who needed their love. I will forever be in awe at how they helped so many. 🐾🙏🏻
Until we’re all together again…. Forever my ❤️

Congratulations Charlie, awesome work for your first day continuing your training at the Landings of Swansboro, a residential assistant living facility.
Charlie and his family have been looking forward to this day since he began his training end January 2022. Charlie was just nine weeks old at the time and 9 1/2 months later he walked through the door to spread love and happiness.
Charlie has earned AKC STAR PUPPY, AKC Good Citizen and is now working on his Advanced Canine.
Charlie and his mom were well received by the residence and the staff too. He was also given great praise for what a well behaved dog.
Our hopes is that Charlie will be a weekly visitor to the landings.

This is not an easy journey it takes consistency, practice, practice, practice, time and the entire family on the same page. Plus all the love you have in your heart.

Meet little George. George is a 4 1/2 month
old rescue boxer lab mix. What a sweet and happy boy.
Mom and George have been working very hard and earned AKC STAR PUPPY.
They will continue working on all of their basic obedience plus program. I have no doubt they will be able to pick up AKC Good citizens plus so much more in the next few weeks.
George was very skittish being around people and going out in public. We took baby steps and as you can see he is starting to meet and greet people and having a good time doing it.
Great job Mom and George !!!!! 🐾🙏🏻
I see great things in this pup‘s future.

Congratulations to 6 month old Berniedoodle Charlie and his fantastic family. Charlie, passed his Basic Obedience +program and AKC Good Citizen.
Charlie and his family have worked hard and are now working on intermediate level skills.
Charlie will begin Advanced Canine Program this summer.
Our goal for Charlie is to visit the local Residential Nursing Facility.
