Wicked Early Spring show placings continued.
The next doe worth mentioning is
☕️Chokecherry Mocha Latte Pi 🥧
“Latte” placed 2nd 🥈 under judge Kristi Bozo-Baldenegro! She also placed roughly 4th under judge Erin Griner and maybe 8th under judge Carly Santangelo, like I said I had mom brain all weekend so I barely remembered any placings after 4th… but Latte is our first homebred doe to place anything mentionable! Let alone 2nd place in a very competitive class of 9 beautiful yearling milkers! Latte is the one doe kid that Denbow Acres My Kind of Party had at our farm in our two years of having her before she moved along to Prince Well Farm. Party likes to birth buck kids… sorry Hannah! 😅

HELLOOOO!
I have been awful about posting lately and have a lot to catch up on…. So I’ll be making several posts over the next couple days while I have a little bit of time before our next show this weekend!

Rough overview:
1 goat addition that I forgot to officially announce.
The rest of our show placings from the last show. Baby bunny updates, oldest litter is ready in 2 weeks!
2 new baby bunny litters.

First up in our placing announcements is my birthday buddy: Lonefeather Maple Blondie! Today we’re 26 and 3 🥰🐐 Maple has matured beautifully over the last 2 years I’ve had her and over the course of 3 show seasons. In 2024 as a dry yearling she placed okay, but was a gangly little “baby”. In 2025 she was a 2yr old First Freshener and held her placings around 5th in large classes. This year at the Wicked Early Spring Show she showed as a 2yr old 2nd freshener (she was only 2 for a few more days 😅). She placed second 🥈 under judge Erin Griner and third 🥉under judges Kristi Bozo-Baldenegro and Carly Santangelo! She probably would’ve done better, but she absolutely hate being filled for a show and will not let me pinch her down in the slightest to stack her…

Thank you so much to Carissa and Colin at Lonefeather Farm for allowing me to have one of their beautiful goats to love on! 🥰

Our first show of the year is in the books! And our first ever show toting our toddler along with us, and she did so well! And I want to say a big thank you to those that helped keep an eye on her while I was busy with the goats, especially Jordan and “Tatoe puppy”. I’ll post more about our placings later, but I don’t remember all of the placings or judges notes because mom brain was on duty this weekend 😅

About 5 hours spent in the kitchen today.
4 ish gallons of milk used.
One batch of farmers cheese made.
2 portions of butter made in the bullet blender.
One batch of yogurt made and “growing” overnight…
And still almost 5 gallons of goat milk in the fridge! 😳😅

I also ran into a dilemma when making the yogurt… I had already simmered it on the stove and cooled it off to the correct temp in the sink and as I was going to scoop some yogurt into the warm milk to inoculate it, I saw a pink spot! Pink spots in milk products means bacterial growth, and not the good kind. So that tub of yogurt went into the trash. But I still had a big pot of milk to inoculate, so experiment time! The only other yogurt in the fridge was honey and vanilla flavored Greek yogurt. It still had live cultures and bacteria’s, so we’ll see how well flavored yogurt can start a pot of yogurt.

Our newest cow!… I mean goat 😅😳 arrived at the farm yesterday! She is my final planned addition for this year (I limited myself to 3). Our herd is finally starting to feel complete 🥰 and I cannot thank Emily at Chickadee Farm enough for allowing me the opportunity to own such a beautiful doe from her herd! To say I was shocked when she asked if I would like to own Megara is an understatement! I fell in love with this doe when we attended our first Wicked Early Spring show two years ago, so of course I had to say yes 🥰. Megara is a dream to hand milk, she has a very strongly attached and smoothly blended udder and she has massive teats! My hands will be forever thankful to be adding a doe with such large teats 😅

Introducing Chickadee Farm P Megara!

Our first show of the year is Memorial Day weekend, The Wicked Early Spring Show! So I’ll get official posed and up to date pictures of Megara then. For now, these stunning udder pictures will suffice! First overnight fill at our farm and she milked over a quart!

Our herd is clean health tested for 2026! 🎉
Better late than never… I usually aim to do it in the fall, but this last fall everything went to shambles. Nonetheless, all of our herd members tested negative for CAE, CL and Johne’s. Any new herd members that are added only come from quality show herds that are also clean health tested. Some of our oldest kids will be looking for new farms to move to very soon!

Sneak peak at our newest addition! 😉🥰
Very excited and thankful to be able to add in a doe with two very phenomenal herd lines behind her! One of those herds is known for their signature deep red colored goats… can you guess who?!

2 days fresh and Heifer milked an extra pint on top of feeding triplets 👌🏼🥛 She’s one of my top two favorite does to milk, so I’m very excited to start milking her again!

One of my favorite kids this year: Mary Jane (born on 4/20)! But she’s kind of a pest… maybe I should have named her Black Fly or Mosquito 🤣 Look at those cute little baby teeth!
