๐พ A Quick Look Behind the Grooming Table ๐พ
We've recently had a few clients ask why grooming appointments can sometimes take longer than expected. We wanted to share a little insight into what goes on behind the scenes and why every pet's grooming experience is unique.
The photos in this post highlight one of the biggest factors that can affect grooming time: coat condition. Regular grooming is important not only for keeping your pet looking their best, but also for preventing severe matting. Mats can be uncomfortable, restrict movement, trap moisture against the skin, and in some cases even lead to skin infections or other health concerns.
Even if your pet arrives without mats, there are many factors that influence the time needed for a safe and thorough groom. We proudly care for many senior dogs and cats who require frequent breaks to remain comfortable throughout their appointments. We also work with nervous, shy, or first-time grooming pets, as well as animals who may have had negative experiences in the past or come from difficult situations. Building trust takes patience, and we believe every pet deserves that extra time and care.
For larger breeds, grooming appointments can realistically take 3โ4 hours depending on coat type and condition. Some coats require extensive brushing and blowouts before grooming can begin. Certain breeds, such as Poodles and Doodles, may require more intensive coat maintenance or clipping if matting is present. On the other hand, double-coated breeds such as Huskies should not be shaved except in specific veterinary circumstances, making proper deshedding and coat care especially important.
Smaller dogs can also require longer appointments if they haven't been groomed regularly, have developed matting, or need additional handling and reassurance throughout the process.
We are a small but mighty team dedicated to providing exceptional care for every pet that walks through our doors. While we always strive for efficiency and client satisfaction, the health, safety, and comfort of the animals in our care will always come first.
Thank you for trusting us with your beloved family members and for understanding the time, patience, and compassion that quality grooming requires. โค๏ธ๐พ
