🌟 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: MEET ALICE F. 🌟

Thanks to Alice, Grand Pet Resort runs like a well oiled machine. She’s been our Manager since 2019 and is the ultimate jack of all trades!

Alice keeps daily operations safe, efficient, and welcoming for every pet that walks through our doors. She’s also a certified dog trainer with 20+ years of experience and helped expand our training services at GPR.

And that gorgeous artwork on our walls? Alice painted the majority of the murals you see throughout the facility - bringing color, personality, and fun to every corner. 🎨

At home, Alice’s pack just got bigger! She shares her life with Great Dane Baca, Chihuahua Pancho, and her newest addition, Do**us. When she’s not managing GPR or training pups, she’s painting, working on her garden, and listening to music.

We’d be lost without Alice’s leadership, talent, and heart. Drop some love for her!

If you’ve been to Grand Pet Resort, you’ve probably met Naomi! She’s been part of the GPR family since 2024 and truly does it all. Marketing Lead, Dog Bather, Front Desk Associate, and Pet Tech.

Naomi says: “I love to form bonds with the pets here and make it a fun & safe space for them to enjoy. My favorite part is watching the dogs reunite with their owners.”

When she’s not keeping GPR running and pets pampered, Naomi’s hanging with her 3 Dachshunds, spending time with family, or relaxing by the lake.

We’re proud to have Naomi on our team for her creativity, hard work ethic, and eagerness to learn something new. She brings that same energy to every pet she meets!

🌟 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: MEET LIZ! 🌟

Say hello to Elizabeth, one of the amazing humans who makes GPR feel like home for your pets!

Liz joined our team in 2023 and it’s been clear from day one that she’s living her dream. In her words: “Being surrounded with animals brings me happiness and working with them is a career I dreamed of since being young.”

At home, Liz is a pet mom to her dog Twix and her guinea pig Cookie. When she’s not giving belly rubs at GPR, she’s studying Veterinary Science, hitting the gym, or enjoying lake days with Twix.

We’re so proud to have team members like Liz who truly make pets their main focus. She plans to spend her lifetime caring for animals and protecting their health and we’re lucky to be part of her journey.

Summer in Surprise hits different, and our pets feel it too. Here’s why these 5 tips can be lifesavers:

• Provide fresh water daily: Pets dehydrate fast in 100°+ heat. Cool, clean water prevents heat stroke and keeps organs functioning. At GPR, we do hourly water checks all summer.
• Protect the paws: Asphalt can reach 150°+ here. That burns paw pads in seconds. Stick to grass, use booties, or walk early morning.
• Shade, coolers, misters: Shade alone isn’t enough in AZ. Evaporative cooling from misters and airflow from coolers lowers body temp fast. That’s why our outdoor play yards have all three.
• Frozen treats: More than just fun, they lower core body temperature and keep pets hydrated. Think doggy popsicles, not just ice cubes.
• Regular grooming: Matted fur traps heat. A professional de-shed or summer cut improves airflow to the skin. Never shave double coats though, our groomers know the difference!

Say hello to Alena! She joined the Grand Pet Resort family in May 2025 after moving here from rural Virginia, and she’s been winning over pets and people ever since.

Known for her gentleness, calm demeanor, and professionalism, Alena brings a steady, caring presence to GPR. She’s a true animal lover at heart:
“I’ve always been an animal person and I love taking care of them! I enjoy spending time with them.”

When she’s not at the resort, you’ll find Alena hanging out with her Dachshund, Bobby, or indulging in some shopping and traveling.

Fun GPR fact: If a few of our team members look familiar… look closer 😉 Alena bears a resemblance of Alice and Naomi, her grandmother and sister, who are also long time employees here.
