“Boot camp” as people refer to boarding for training doesn’t have to be scary if the right approach is taken. Relationship-building is one of the pillars of the Steady Hand way! It doesn’t have to be one extreme of my industry or the other, choose the balanced approach, take the middle path. Yes, you can challenge your dog, and ensure they feel supported in those moments as well ♥️🐾

Peanut is back! Her owners are in Sedona so she & I pick up where we left off, she accompanied me to school drop off with the littles this morning to work her down stay in the car and go on an adventure. Life with dogs (especially trained) is simply the best 👌🏻

See the progression? Kusse working her down-stay next to mom in session this morning. From stimulated/aroused to a calming place of surrender. This was within a 3 minute window.

Once they commit to you mentally they “magically” do all the things you ask them to physically (commands) as well.

This is also why giving your dog a command while they are aroused doesn’t work well without training to give your words weight. Get their attention in their language. Then speak yours👌🏻.
