Thor was an absolutely gorgeous boy with a gentle soul. Unfortunately, taken too soon due to kidney failure. It was an honor to meet him and to help with his peaceful transition. Some pet parents mention that they may do a tattoo of the ink prints that I provide. I am grateful Thor‘s dad shared these images. Such a beautiful way to memorialize him. 🥰🐾

Buddha - Loyal and Lovable...

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go ..

"I didn’t believe it at first, but it’s true—having a dog makes a difference," I said, watching the light catch on the old leash hanging by the door.

At first, it’s just a dog, you tell yourself. Just another thing to care for in a world that already demands too much. But then they work their way in. Little by little, they show you parts of yourself you didn’t even know existed. The softer parts. The patient parts. The parts that needed someone to just sit beside them without asking for a single thing in return.

You notice it most on the days when life feels too heavy. They’re there, waiting, looking at you like you’re still worth something even when you’re not so sure yourself. They remind you how to keep going, not with words or grand gestures, but just by being there—steady, present, and unshaken by whatever storm you’re caught in.

And that’s the difference. They don’t fix you, but they remind you that maybe you don’t need fixing. That maybe love, in its simplest form, is all you needed to feel human again. And it’s a kind of love you don’t forget. The kind that stays with you long after they’re gone..

You Don’t Grieve Just Once

Grief isn’t a single moment. It doesn’t arrive, say its piece, and leave. Grief stays. It lingers in the quiet, waiting to remind you that love and loss are forever entwined.

You grieve not just once but every time you wake to another day without them. You feel it when a song plays, when a memory surfaces, when their favorite chair sits empty.

Grief doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it whispers softly, and other times, it crashes into you like a storm, taking your breath away. It’s a tidal wave that pulls you under just as you think you’ve found your footing.

There’s no “getting over” this kind of loss. There’s no final goodbye to the ache it brings. Instead, you learn to carry it—to live alongside the pain and let it shape who you are.

Be kind to yourself, and to others who carry this invisible weight. Grief is a journey that reshapes your world daily. It’s not about “moving on”; it’s about moving forward with the love that still remains.

You don’t grieve just once. You grieve every day, in moments big and small, for a lifetime.

Because love never dies—it simply takes on a different form.

For everyone navigating this storm: You are not alone.

“What’s the hardest part about having a dog?” they asked, their tone casual, like it was just another question.

I glanced at the worn leash hanging by the door, my chest tightening. “Letting them go,” I said quietly.

They frowned a little, waiting for me to explain. “They come into your life like they were always meant to be there,” I said, trying to find the words. “They make everything better—simpler, brighter. And you think it’s always going to be that way. But it’s not. One day, they’re gone, and you’re left with all the space they used to fill.”

They nodded, but I wasn’t sure they understood. “It’s not the messes they made or the routines you have to let go of,” I continued. “It’s the absence. You walk into the house, and it feels... wrong. The quiet is heavier. The mornings don’t feel the same without them nudging you awake.”

“So why do it?” they asked, their voice softer this time.

I sighed, glancing down at my hands. “Because the love they give you is worth every bit of the heartache. They teach you how to love without holding back, even when you know it’s going to hurt in the end. And you keep choosing that love because you know it’s one of the best things you’ll ever feel.”

I met Dr. Melissa two years ago when I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat Mishmish. Dr. Melissa was compassionate, caring and allowed us to take our time saying goodbye to Mishmish. She made the process easier and we felt how she truly cared about us. Two days ago I had to say goodbye to my other elderly cat, Lilu. There was no doubt in my mind who I needed to call. My Lilu deserved the most tender care and affection since she had been a semi feral cat all her life. The process went smoothly and my baby took her last breath peacefully in my arms. I will forever be grateful for the service that Dr. Melissa provides. She is a wonderful vet and an amazing human being.
