Come check out the big dog playgroup adoption event! Fantastic way to see the dogs interacting and having fun instead of stressed out in their kennels!

PAWS, it’s weekend Community! Our next Large Dog Playgroup Adoption Event is this Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at our shelter.

If you have been thinking about a dog, this is a great opportunity to see our shelter dogs outside of their kennel and in their more relaxed state, having fun with each other. This event is a useful tool in showcasing a dog’s temperament, energy level, and playstyle.

So, stop by our shelter this Saturday and see if one of our playgroup dogs is your new best friend!

That’s why we’re excited to invite you to join our 6-week Group Dog Training Classes – the perfect opportunity to improve your dog’s behavior, socialization, and obedience, all while having fun!

Why Join Our Group Classes?

Socialization & Confidence: Your dog will learn to be comfortable around other dogs, people, and distractions.
Building the Bond: Training in a group setting strengthens the bond between you and your dog.
Comprehensive Training: We’ll cover essential skills like loose leash walking, heel, sit, down, stay, and an introduction to recall (come).
Expert Guidance: Each 50-minute session is led by experienced trainers dedicated to your dog’s growth.

Location: El Quito Park, Saratoga
Duration: 6 weeks (One 50-minute session per week)
Start Date:March 22nd, 9:30 am
Requirements: Puppies must be at least 16 weeks old and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Yay! It’s Tails and Trails (DDO) day! Adventuring with these special souls absolutely fills my ❤️cup! Today, adorable and adoptable Fonzy (ID ) and I hiked 7 miles on this beautiful crisp, clear day! We both couldn’t stop smiling all the way back to San Jose Animal Care Center! Fonzy would love to be your furever bestie! He is a real lovebug!

Meet new client and goodest girl, Ziggy! She is mastering all basic commands and learning how to ‘ignore’ other dogs while walking on leash. Sometimes, for desensitization purposes, we just sit and watch all the people and dogs coming and going while getting lots of yummy treats!

Meet Star! This is one very happy (despite her circumstances!), affectionate, well behaved, smart and adorable GSD’s I have had the pleasure of meeting. She walks well on a loose leash (we ran 3miles) and when not distracted, knows sit and down. She is available for adoption at the San Jose Animal Care Center! It’s NATIONAL DOG DAY! Let’s all celebrate by posting a pic of our (well trained!?) favorite K9! Founded in 2004 National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, mixed and pure and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues.
National Dog Day honors family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - protecting our families and homes, for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and helping to locate and rescue victims of accidents and tragedy. We know that is not all that they do! Dogs are simply amazing!
