🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

We’ve recently seen an increase in scam comments and fake groups being posted under our adoption announcements. Sadly, some of our followers have already lost money by engaging with these scammers.

❗️Please remember:
➡️ Do NOT click on links or join random “Westie puppy” groups mentioned in comments.
➡️ Do NOT message or engage with strangers claiming to have puppies available.
➡️ These are NOT real people. They are scammers using stolen photos and fake accounts to prey on animal lovers.
➡️ All dogs with Westie Rescue Southeast are only adopted through our official channels.

If you ever have a question about a post or comment, message us directly or visit our verified website. Let’s keep our community and our dogs safe. 💔🐾

🩺✨ It’s Skin Dog Day at the vet for foster pups Louie and Bitsy!

Today is Louie’s very first dermatology appointment—we’re diving into the mystery of his itchy skin to get him some much-needed relief. Fingers (and paws) crossed for answers and a solid treatment plan! 🐾💙

Miss Bitsy is just in for a recheck to monitor her progress. She’s been such a trooper, and we’re hopeful we’re on the right track with her healing journey. 🌿💕

Skin issues are unfortunately all too common in Westies, but with the right care, support, and lots of love, we’re determined to help these two feel their best.

Stay tuned for updates on their progress!

🎉 FOSTER FAIL ALERT: Sadie is ADOPTED! 🎉

Our hearts are bursting with joy as we announce that sweet Sadie, our blind and deaf senior Westie, has officially been adopted by none other than her amazing foster mom, Gail Adkinson! 💕

What started as a foster placement turned into something much more: a forever kind of love. Gail simply couldn’t let go and neither could Sadie. 💞

Sadie now spends her days snuggled up in safety and comfort, and best of all, she has a new Westie sister named Fiona to share her golden years with. 🐾

Sadie may not hear or see the world around her, but she feels love in every soft bed, gentle touch, and wagging tail beside her and now she’ll feel that every single day.

Please help us celebrate this beautiful foster fail and the happy ending Sadie so richly deserves! 💗

🔥🐾 Hot Pavement Alert! 🐾🔥
Just because the air feels okay to us doesn’t mean it’s safe for your pup’s paws!

☀️ Did you know?
When the air temp is just 85°F, the asphalt can reach 135°F – hot enough to burn skin in 60 seconds.

👉 The 7-Second Rule:
Press the back of your hand to the pavement. If you can’t hold it for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog.

🐶 Paw burns are painful and dangerous. Blisters, limping, and long-term damage are common – and completely preventable.

💡 Tips to Protect Those Paws:
✅ Walk early morning or after sunset
✅ Use grassy areas whenever possible
✅ Invest in protective booties
✅ Moisturize paws with balm to prevent cracks
✅ Keep outdoor playtime short in peak heat

And remember: If you wouldn’t walk barefoot on it, your dog shouldn’t either.

📣 Share this to help other pet parents keep their pups safe this summer!

🚨 Water Play Warning for Dog Owners 🚨

Summer fun can turn dangerous in a flash — especially when it involves hoses, sprinklers, or chasing water streams.

💧 Letting your dog bite at water from a hose may seem harmless and hilarious, but it can lead to:

⚠️ Water Intoxication – A rare but life-threatening condition where too much water dilutes your dog’s electrolytes, causing swelling in the brain.
⚠️ Aspiration Pneumonia – When water enters the lungs instead of the stomach, leading to a dangerous lung infection.

🛑 Please don’t let your dog bite at the water stream!
Instead, use shallow kiddie pools, supervised sprinkler fun, or frozen treat toys for safe summer cooling.

🐾 Protect the fun and your pup’s life by being informed. Share to help others stay safe this season! 🌞

🐾 Welcome Whiskey! 🐾

Meet Whiskey, an approximately 7-year-old Westie gentleman who found himself wandering alone with no one to claim him. Despite being posted on social media, local groups, and Pawboost alerts, no one stepped forward after a long wait💔

But his journey isn’t over — it’s just beginning. Whiskey is now safe with Westie Rescue Southeast, where he’ll finally receive the love, care, and stability every pup deserves. 🐶💕

We don’t know what his past looked like, but his future is looking bright — full of belly rubs, soft beds, and the promise of a forever home when he’s ready. Stay tuned as we get to know this sweet boy and help him write his next chapter. 💫

He isn’t available for adoption yet as he needs a vet checkup and to be neutered. If you wouldd like to be considered for Whiskey or any of our rescue dogs please submit an application through our website for us to have on file.

Time for a road trip, sweet Lou! 🚗

Today is transport day for Louie! He’s headed to North Carolina to Westie Rescue SouthEast, where they will treat his skin/coat prior to finding him a forever home.

Like the prince he is, Louie🐚 refuses to ride anywhere but the lap of his foster parents who offered to drive 12 hours in one day to deliver Lou to NC.

Safe travels and good luck, Louie!

🌿 Seasonal Paw Care Alert! 🌿
Is your pup constantly licking or chewing their paws this time of year? It could be due to summer allergens and environmental chemicals that collect on their feet during walks. A quick wipe often isn’t enough—those irritants hide between the toes and nail beds!

✨ Try a simple, soothing paw soak to help!
Soaking your dog’s paws is a natural, effective way to relieve itchiness, reduce inflammation, and prevent those allergens from causing more skin issues.

Here’s one of our go-to recipes for itchy paws:

🛁 Itchy Paw Soak Recipe
🌱 12 stinging nettle tea bags
🍃 6 green tea bags
🌿 5 peppermint tea bags
💧 Optional: 20 drops of pure lavender essential oil

🔹 Simmer 1 gallon of water and steep all tea bags.
🔹 Let cool, remove tea bags, and refrigerate (lasts up to 3 days).
🔹 Add lavender oil if desired.

TO USE:
🦶 Pour into a shallow bowl or sink deep enough to cover paws to the ankle.
🕒 Soak for 30 seconds after each walk.
♻️ You can reuse the solution for 24 hours.
🏁 Continue until allergy season is over!

This is a game changer for pups with environmental allergies—and it’s gentle, safe, and holistic. 💚

📣 SCAM ALERT: FAKE WESTIE RESCUES📣

Scammers are posing as Westie rescues on Facebook and tricking people into sending deposits or personal info and then vanish without ever providing a dog.

These pages look legit, with photos, testimonials, and even fake “applications,” but they are stealing from kind-hearted people.

🛑 What to watch out for:

- They refuse to talk on the phone

- They ask you to pay a “refundable deposit”

- No interview or home visit required

- They communicate only through Messenger or email

- They use stolen photos and fake testimonials

🚫 NEVER send money for a dog unless you’ve spoken directly with someone from the organization.

🐶 Real rescues will interview YOU to ensure it’s a good fit—not just hand over a dog for payment.
