Did you know? Puppies and kittens aren’t fully protected from diseases right away—they need a series of vaccines over the first few months of life to build proper immunity. These vaccines help protect them from serious illnesses like parvovirus, distemper, and feline leukemia. Following the correct schedule is key, so make sure to talk to your vet about when each shot is due.

PAWS AND LEARN WEDNESDAY

🦠 Leptospirosis: Why It’s Now a Core Vaccine for Dogs 🐶

Leptospirosis (or “Lepto”) is a serious bacterial disease that affects dogs—and it’s becoming more common, which is why it’s now considered a core vaccine.

🔬 What is Leptospirosis?
Lepto is spread through contaminated water, soil, or urine from infected wildlife like raccoons, rats, deer, and other animals. Dogs can be exposed by:
• Drinking from puddles or standing water
• Walking through wet grass or muddy areas
• Contact with wildlife or rodent urine

⚠️ Why is it dangerous?
Leptospirosis can cause:
• Kidney failure
• Liver damage
• Severe illness or death
• Infection that can spread to people (zoonotic disease)

🏡 Why every dog is at risk
Lepto isn’t just a “country dog” disease anymore. Urban and suburban dogs are exposed through:
• Neighborhood puddles
• Backyards
• Dog parks
• Wildlife passing through yards

💉 Why it’s now a CORE vaccine
Because of its increasing prevalence, severity, and risk to humans, veterinarians now consider the Lepto vaccine essential for all dogs, not just those with high-risk lifestyles.

✅ The good news
The Lepto vaccine is:
• Safe and effective
• Highly protective
• A key part of preventive care

🐾 Protect your dog. Protect your family. Prevent Lepto.

🐾 Healthy Ears = Happy Pets! 🐾

Did you know that weekly ear cleanings can make a big difference in your cat or dog’s health?

✨ Benefits of Weekly Ear Cleaning:

Helps prevent ear infections

Reduces yeast and bacteria buildup

Decreases itching, redness, and odor

Allows early detection of ear mites, inflammation, or abnormalities

Keeps your pet more comfortable and pain-free

Some pets are more prone to ear issues—especially those with floppy ears, allergies, or who love swimming! Regular ear care helps keep small problems from turning into painful (and costly) infections.

📅 Not sure how to clean your pet’s ears or what products are safe? Our team is happy to help—just ask at your next visit!

🐶🐱 Because clean ears mean happier cuddles and fewer vet visits.
