👏🦄👏I want to point something out that may strike some backlash, BUT not my intentions!
I have a Horse that I had vetted in January due to a large lump on his leg that I felt was a fractured splint bone. The vet, x-rayed and ultrasounded and assured me that it was just soft tissue, gave a discharge, and said put back to work. This horse was never off on this leg. Fast forward down the road, after multiple 1/2D checks at super shows & winnings at rodeos, the leg was still large and in my opinion just not right-BUT again he was not lame until a few days ago. The owner and I decided we needed to have a second opinion done as this horse is super cool and we as horseman need to take care of and address when there is a problem. The horse was rechecked and indeed does have a broken split and will require surgery. Now…this post was not to bash a vet it was to address the common misconception in my opinion of …
“my horse is sore that’s why he/she isn’t working”
I’m here to tell you-me included- 99% of the time when the horse messes up it’s the RIDER. This horse has run with a broken leg and has still won- has still tried- & has never been counterfeit about it. This is straight HEART! Let’s take responsibility as riders it truly is sometimes “just us & not them” 🤓🦄🫣🥳
🎊🎊Again… This in no way was pointing the finger of blame, like some of you have taken it, I will continue to use the first Vet as they are very good vets. The entire point of this post was to explain horses will still work when they are not 100% and that most of time it’s “us” as riders not getting the job done.
