🐾-A Brief history of Golden Retrievers 🐶
Golden retrievers originated from the Scottish Highlands, where they were used primarily as hunting dogs. The Scottish estate owners needed a dog that could retrieve birds either in water or on land because their hunting grounds had many ponds and marshes. As guns were improved, retrievers needed to be able to bring back birds from farther distances.
- To further develop the ideal retriever, the Baron of Tweedmouth, Dudley Marjoribanks, bred a Tweed water spaniel with a yellow-colored retriever. The four pups were then used in further breeding with lines from various dogs like the Irish setter, bloodhound, St. John's water dog, and black retrievers. He kept detailed records in a leather bound book throughout the later years of the 19th century, showcasing the goal of developing a dog with a soft mouth for retrieving game and also was strong and active. The breed gained popularity in England and was recognized by The Kennel Club of England in 1911.
~ [A Reflection]
Since the line comes from hunting they have a strong drive to chase birds and catch frogs which is a fun trait. Goldens have a simular personality to Labrador retrieves due to their water spaniel back ground and make great dogs for children. They are actually considered one of the best dogs for kids. My line comes from both hunting and dogs who assist people with disabilities. My goal in breeding Goldens is much like the creator of the breed itself, in that I desire to breed for good qualities. I wanted to bring dogs who were socialized and given the best nutrition, which is why I feed high quality dog food and even gave them goat milk when they were puppies. Before I began dog breeding, I spent countless hours researching the breed, searching for both temperament and physical health. My quest to create a good family dog balance began long before I searched for my Dam(momma dog) and Stud(daddy dog). My desire was born out of love for Dogs. I would not say I know all their is to know because I’m still learning dog breeding, It is a continual learning experience that never ends. These pups are a reflection of the endless hours of care I spend with them everyday. From being up at night when they were first born, to helping them wean from their mother milk, to helping each one step into the world with confidence and joy. They have grown up knowing they’re loved from the day they drew their first breath. And even when I send them home to be the family dog I bred them to be, I still want their very best because after all they’re my fur children who I raised and cherished. Thank you for your time! 🐶🐾 ♾Golden Love Fureverz
