We are back home. Bloodwork was perfect and urinalysis was good as well. He couldn’t do X-rays as the boy is to thick. Doc said he’s in pain but that we have options and we are starting him on Gabapentin and meloxicam to see how it does. The hacking is more than likely due to allergies but besides being in pain everything seems to be ok. I don’t ever want him to suffer but hopefully this will help him get some relief and go from there. Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers and support for this sweet old man! 🐾❤️🐾❤️

Meet Kali our newest addition! We are so excited for this new chapter. She is a 1 yr old female Mini Australian Shepherd. She will start training next week to become our next therapy dog and we look forward to the day we can start interacting with everyone!

All Stockings were handed out. We were able to drop off 83 stockings Friday at Holly Hills Christmas Party, Saturday we delivered 84 stockings and stuffed animals to Stonebridge for their Christmas party and we delivered 97 to High Hope yesterday and played our last bingo of the year. Can’t thank everyone enough for making this Christmas a little brighter for our seniors. Thank you for all the continued support and we Wish You All A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. It’s gonna be a great day and we are so excited to see everyone at the Christmas Party this morning from 10-12 at Carlyss Park Rec Room. We didn’t have much trickle in yesterday but we have the essential’s to have a great time. We will be setting up around 8am and if you would like to help, come out a little early… It’s about time to get this party started!!!!

UPDATE as of 12/4

Sorry for the late post this morning. It was a very long night in front of this computer and I've been on the phone since I woke up trying to figure out some transportation options for one of the facilities and I'm trying to get this typed up before my next appt at 10:30.

We are super excited about tomorrow and we have so much packed into 2 hrs. I know rain is in the forecast but we have covered walkways and will be inside, so please don't let that be a decision maker.

Items received yesterday:
Highlighters are taken care of
10 doz more candy canes committed
Cases of water are taken care of
Hot Coco is taken care of
25 more activity books
We received another $120 in monetary which leaves us after reimbursements (receipts provided) with about $118, we have another $100 committed. We are somewhere around the $200 ball park in the positive. I have another friend going to Walmart to pick up the last 66 stockings so that will be another reimbursement which puts us at $140 to try and get the rest of the stocking stuffers needed, bingo prizes and more. We know our community always comes together to make sure it all comes together and I have no doubt that today will be another amazing day of donations. I'm thinking we need to have about $200-300. Everything is so expensive. I've got to hurry this post up lol.

Items still needed:
crossword/activity books 50 (if my math is correct)
80 ChapStick
40-50 paper Christmas themed plates
150 plastic utensils
Bingo Prizes (personal care products, men and woman, stuffed animals, anything you think they would love)
I think we have enough blankets but I'll get a count this evening, but we may end up purchasing a few more blankets because they go fast.
Insulated Cooler for Coco (I've got the ice chest for the water, but if anyone has a cooler we can borrow that would be great and if not I'll go to stine's and just charge it on my acct.)

I know I'm forgetting stuff but I've got to get this posted and to an appt. My point is that there is no way we could pull this off without each and everyone of you who continue to support, volunteer, etc. year after year.

If you would like to drop off items or monetary donations you can to Pelican State Credit Union on City Service and just ask for my amazing and beautiful bride Stephanie. (getting in those brownie points). I'll also list our other monetary apps that we use below.

UPDATE as of this morning 12/3 for Astro's Joint Community Christmas Extravaganza and Retirement Celebration.

We are 2 days away and still needing donations, so that we don't come in short. We received another $20 yesterday which put us at $360 after our dear friend went all over the parish looking for items we will be reimbursing her for $358.29 ( I'll post receipts when I get to my phone and attach them to post). With that being said that leaves us at $1.71 left as of now. We did get 75 boxes of chocolate covered cherries, 125 activity books, 25 stockings, commitment for 125 Styrofoam cups for coco, we received an amazon package with candy canes, box of coco and 35 ChapSticks. We are definitely getting closer to where we need to be but time isn't on our side and with Medicare Enrollment in full force its been a little hectic but we are super excited to see everyone turnout and celebrate as a community. I say it all the time, that we could not do this with out each and everyone of you who have contributed along the way and we are so grateful for such amazing family, friends and our community. I'll post our final update tomorrow w/ agenda and flyer. I may try to make a post this evening with an update but I'm in appts until 7-8pm as of right now.

We are going to try and go shopping tonight for last minute items so we can have all stockings ready to go when we arrive. We will start setting up at Friday morning at 8:30, so if you would like to come a little early and help with setting up it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all again for making this Christmas one to remember, because we couldn't do it by ourself.

We will be shopping tomorrow and Thursday for anything that we don't receive. Last year we spent over $900 along w/ donations. I don't think we will need that much, but we will definitely hit the $500-600 mark depending on what comes in over the next day or so.

Again we couldn't do this with out all the support that continues to be shown. We hope that everyone can make it Friday and we look forward to our Community Joint Christmas Extravaganza. We have lots of surprises for the event. If you would like to make a monetary donation, I'll provide those options or if you would like to drop off items/money to Pelican State Credit Union on City Service you most definitely can. Just let them know its for Astro's Event.

We are at crunch time with 4 days to GEAUX... Astro's Joint Community Christmas Extravaganza is coming together, but we are still in need of some items and a few volunteers. We to date have received $340 in monetary donations, 100 stockings stuffed, another 85 that are almost ready, but we are still short roughly 100-125 stockings and all the fixings. We have amazon packages on the way with teddy bears, ChapStick and hot coco. We have music, cotton candy, popcorn, and cake donated. Our community is like no other. Thank you all for your continued support and making a difference everywhere we go. I'll be making another post a little later this evening with any updates. We still need some items or if monetary donation is easier, we will be going shopping Wed and Thursday.
