Happy Easter! Hope you get your fill on chocolate bunnies and find some hidden eggs! I personally love making devilled eggs after the kiddos find them all...

What are the rare axolotls colors/morphs? Well, according to https://www.morereptiles.com/axolotl-colors/, they would have to be:

Enigma: a yellow, green, brown and white axolotl

Firefly: an axolotl with a greenish-glowing tail

GFP: an axolotl that glows green in the dark

High Iridophore: an axolotl that is more iridescent

Lavender: a lavender, gray, silver and pink axolotl

Mosaic: a black, gray, purple and white axolotl

Piebald: a black, gray and white axolotl

What is your favorite out of the rare types of axolotls? Mine would have to be lavender! 😍

What are the uncommon axolotls colors/morphs? Well, according to https://www.morereptiles.com/axolotl-colors/, they would have to be:

Copper: a copper-colored, olive, brown or gold axolotl

Golden Albino: a gold, yellow, and white axolotl with red/clear eyes

What is your favorite out of the uncommon types of axolotls? Mine would have to be the copper, because there's so much variation in them. I love the golden albinos, too, though!

Our special discount offer is still running with limited time!

I have a low goal of $150 to be met to get the remaining supplies I need for our first breeding female and for future hatchlings. What can I offer for donations? Well... anyone who donates at least $25 to my cause, can have one axolotl of choice out of my first clutch, for FREE. You will also be marked down as a special customer, and get 25% off on all other future axolotls/future products of mine you may purchase.

To make a donation, please message me and we'll get it done. I can only take cash and PayPal currently, but I'm working to expand those options as well!

Please reach out to me with any questions you may have. I'm happy to answer anything about my plans, and about anything axolotl-related. Have a great day and thank you for your support in advance!

What are the common axolotls colors/morphs? Well, according to https://www.morereptiles.com/axolotl-colors/, they would have to be:

(White) Albino: a white and pink axolotl with clear or red eyes

Melanoid: a black, gray, or nearly a dark purple color axolotl

Dirty (Speckled) Lucy (Leucistic): a leucistic axolotl with dark spots across body and face

Lucy (Leucistic): a white and pink axolotl with dark eyes

Wild-Type: a black, brown, or olive axolotl

What is your favorite out of the common types of axolotls? Mine would have to be the Melanoid. There's just something about having a tiny void living in my aquarium that gets to me...

An axolotl's gills are actually their most recognizable trait, because they look like wispy feathers. They're cute little stalks on the axolotl's head! And some variations have EXTRA fluffy gills!

Axolotls also develop lungs. And although their main method of breathing is through their gills, they occasionally use their lungs to breathe in air from the water’s surface. It's pretty cool.

Did you know? Axolotls are named after the Ancient Aztec god, Xolotl. He was the god of fire, lightning, sickness, and deformities. He was depicted as a dog-like creature and was tasked with dragging the sun through the underworld at night. He was also the dark personification of Venus, the evening star, and he was the twin of Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent.

The Aztec believed Xolotl traveled with his brother to Mictlan, the underworld, to retrieve the bones of an extinct race of beings that inhabited the previous world. He tricked the goddess of Mictlan, Mictlantecuhtli, into letting him drag the bones up to the world of light. Thus, with the help of the gods of heaven, humankind was born.

One legend says the god, Xolotl, got mixed up in the political affairs of the other gods and feared he would be sacrificed, so he decided to transform into an axolotl to escape. The ancient Aztec believed that, because of the axolotl's strange appearance and regenerative abilities, axolotls were the manifestation of the god Xolotl and resemble the lake system that sustained them.

What are axolotls, exactly? Well, they're a salamander that lives in the water for all of their life (unless they morph, which is very rare). Most salamanders go through the process of metamorphosis from their larval to their adult forms, however, axolotls don't. They are native to the Xochimilco, however, they are endangered in the wild. There aren't many left in nature due to human development, wastewater disposal, and loss of habitat due to droughts. All of the axolotls you will be able to have as pets, though, have all been captive-bred, and are vastly different from the ones left in the wild.

They make extremely curious pets, and their needs are pretty straightforward. As long as you have the time and resources dedicated to preparing a home for them within your home, axolotls make a great pet for any family.
