🤔Let’s talk about chewing in dogs. Dogs NEED to chew!! Did you know that WE sell these here at the academy?! Very high quality chews with great pricing too!! When I go into clients homes, they usually don’t have anything for their dogs enrichment. They are concerned about the bad behavior, of course, that’s why I’m there. I challenge all of my clients to think of what the dog needs outside of “listening to commands”. Most clients have a toy box sitting out in the living room with stuffed animals but is that enough for most dogs? They destroy the toy with little effort and more times than not, the owner gets upset with them…so, then the dog doesn’t even get stuffies anymore. Dogs need to WORK at something. Chew, naw, bite, and succeed. Are they eating your couch? Are they chewing on your walls? Are you kennel training them and giving them something to really chew and get there frustration out? When we introduce enrichment, completely outside of obedience training. (Obedience training is necessary as well don’t get me wrong) we see so much of this bitey/ destructive behavior calm down! When we give the dog something to do (“place” and chew in this picture) he is not looking to go chew the coffee table, that will never become habit to this dog. Why? Because I will give him things to do. A stuffed frozen Kong, collagen chew, beef cheek roll, bully sticks, frozen snacks, etc. he knows that I supply these things and he stops looking to meet his own needs elsewhere. BRUNO 💙 our baby boy has returned home from his puppy board and train and we ALL miss him dearly! He is the perfect little dream puppy and we are so thankful to have gotten the opportunity to train him 🐾 when Bruno first came to us he was so nervous, trembling, and had diarrhea from being so uncomfortable with the world around him (he’s super sensitive😕). Now, he is cool as a cucumber! ⬇️ this picture is him doing a down stay on “place” while his mom pets his best friend 🐈‍⬛Tuffy
