After evaluating both Licorice and Nutmeg for the last 6 months, we are incredibly proud to announce that the first puppy we are holding back from our own breeding is Nutmeg! Nutmeg is also now known as Inje. Inje is a Serbian word which means hoarfrost and is pronounced roughly as "EE (as in the word ‘see’) -nyeh (the nj sounds like the ny in canyon followed by the eh sound as in the word pet).

We love both of these girls so much and choosing one was incredibly difficult, but we couldn’t say no to the absolutely lovely outgoing temperament of Inje. She represents precisely what we strive to produce in our program: outgoing and confident temperament, lovely movement, nice structure, and feminine expression. We can’t wait to get started in showing and performance with this promising girl. She already got her AKC Novice trick title and we know that she has an amazing career in front of her.

Today was socialize with your look-a-like day 😂. Nutmeg went out with Senka and Licorice tagged along with Gokkai for a small little adventure through our local downtown.

The Japanese Akitainu Club USA invites you to join us on Thursday, July 30, 2026, for the Nihon Ken Heritage Show and the Japanese Akitainu Specialty. Held in conjunction with the UKC Western Classic in Longview WA, this day serves as a celebration of the rich history, preservation, and community behind the native Japanese breeds.

We are honored to host two back-to-back specialty events:

SHOW 1: Nihon Ken Heritage Specialty

Judge: Claire Mancha

Eligible Breeds: Akita, Hokkaido, Japanese Akitainu, Kai, Kishu, Shiba, and Shikoku.

SHOW 2: Japanese Akitainu National Specialty

Judge: Cynthia Sanders

Eligible Breeds: Japanese Akitainu exclusively.

Classes Offered for Both Shows:
Specialty, Conformation (Altered Conformation, Junior Showmanship, Brace, Novice Puppy, Special Exhibition, and Veteran)
