Winter walks can be a blast for you and your furry friend, but they come with their own challenges, especially for elderly pets!

Here are some tips to make cold weather walks safe and enjoyable for all dogs:
- Protect their paws: Snow and ice can be harsh, so make sure their paws are protected with booties or balm.
- Watch for salt and chemicals: Road salt and de-icers can seriously hurt your dog’s paws. Wipe them down after every walk or find a place that uses pet-friendly salt.
- Limit time outdoors: Keep walks shorter on freezing days to prevent your dog from getting too cold.
- Dress appropriately: Consider a winter coat to help keep your dog warm during chilly walks.
- For elderly pets: The harsher the winter, the harder it can be on elderly animals. Set them up for success with potty pads indoors for bad weather days, and make sure they have jackets and shoes for extra warmth and comfort.
